Thanksgiving Book Tag 2024

As is tradition, it’s time for the Thanksgiving Book Tag 2024! I did this last year as well as in 2022 and I’m proud of myself for remembering to do it again. šŸ™‚ My focus is on books I read throughout this year. I put the questions at the end for easy copying and pasting if anyone wants to participate.

Originally created byĀ Annaā€™s Book Nook, here are the rules:

Friends and Family: A Book with Characters that Feel Like Family

You Are Here by David Nicholls

I think YOU ARE HERE takes the bill for this prompt. It’s about a man and a woman, strangers at first, who decide to traverse a walking trail in England together. “From the internationally bestselling and Booker Prize-longlisted author ofĀ One Day, one of the most enduring love stories of its generation, comes an uplifting and unputdownable love story about second chances.

Fallen Leaves: A Book that Fell Flat (didnā€™t meet your expectations)

Immortal Pleasures by V. Castro

IMMORTAL PLEASURES had the potential to be so interesting, but it was poorly executed. I skimmed through the last quarter of it just to finish. Honestly, I wish I had DNF it. “An ancient Aztec vampire roams the modern world in search of vengeance and love in this seductive dark fantasy from the author ofĀ The Haunting of Alejandra.

Thanksgiving Dinner: A Book You Want to Read Every Year During This Season

I reread A COURT OF FROST AND STARLIGHT this year, so it counts! When I first read this I wasn’t blown away by it. But each reread I do makes me like it more and more.

Turkey: A Book With a Bird in It

Under the Henfluence by Tove Danovich

Well, this one is easy! I read UNDER THE HENFLUENCE earlier this year. I thought I wanted chickens, but this book kind of talked me out of it (not that it was trying to). However, it didn’t really matter in the end since where I live doesn’t allow pet chickens. Anyway, this is a great book that discusses the influence chickens have on society.

Ham: A Book that Made Your Eyes Glaze Over (Boring)

How Herbs Healed the World by Connor Smith

I wish this hadn’t been the case, but this ARC about herbs really bored me. So much so that I decided to DNF it.

Dinner Rolls: A Book that Melted Your Heart and Made You Feel Warm

The Book of Purrs by Luis Coelho

I mean, how can THE BOOK OF PURRS not melt your heart? It has cute comics of cats with big eyes and sweet messages.

Mashed Potatoes: A Book With a White Cover

No Choice by Becca AndrewsThe Lion in the Living Room by Abigail TuckerOpen Throat by Henry HokeThe Re-Emergence by Alan K. Dell

I didn’t think I read as many books with a white cover this year. Looks like I indeed read a few!

Gravy: A Book Youā€™re not Totally Sure Why You Love, but You Do

Not Another Love Song by Julie Soto

I loved NOT ANOTHER LOVE SONG by Julie Soto. While it’s a drop in the sea of contemporary romances, something about this just really resonated with me. I suppose it was one of those “read it at the right time” kind of things.

Pumpkin Pie: A Dessert Book That You Love

Tales of the Celestial Kingdom by Sue Lynn Tan

TALES OF THE CELESTIAL KINGDOM was a nice dessert after The Celestial Kingdom duology. I loved all of the short stories in this book. I recommend you read the duology before reading this, otherwise you might be confused!

Bonus: Black Friday: The Top 5 Books on Your ā€œI want to buy themā€ List

Like last year, I think I have all books I wanted this year. At this point any purchases would be about 2025 releases. So I don’t plan on buying any books on Black Friday.

  1. I had forgotten about this tag! I always have a list of books I want to buy, but I rarely buy anything for myself on Black Friday. I don’t really need a special day to buy them, lol. Although my bank account says otherwisešŸ˜

    1. Thank you! Yea, Immortal Pleasures just did absolutely nothing for me. The plot sounded so interesting, but the execution was not great, in my opinion.
