The Book of Purrs Synopsis

The internet’s favorite googly-eyed feline–@purr.in.ink–wrote a book to send you a little bit of love and a whole lot of joy.

As every cat-lover knows, purring is the way a cat shows affection and happiness, and The Book of Purrs is just that! From cover to cover, Portuguese illustrator Luis Coelho’s delightful collection of comics–an extension of his popular Instagram @purr.in.ink–is filled with affirmations and encouraging reminders to find joy in making mistakes, chasing lost dreams, and refilling empty food bowls…they are still cats, after all.

The Book of Purrs: Everyday Thoughts from Your Feline Friends is the purr-fect gift for the cat lover in your life, and anyone in need of a daily dose of paws-itivity!

The Book of Purrs Review

I received a free, digital, advanced reading copy of this book from the publisher via NetGalley. My review is my own and reflects my honest opinion about this book.

As a long-time follower of Coelho’s cat comic series, I jumped at the opportunity to download an advanced copy of THE BOOK OF PURRS. These comics never fail to add some humor or sage cat advice into my life. This book is a nice compendium of some of Coelho’s cat comics. It’s not necessary to read the book in order and one can instead live on the edge and open the book at random.

The illustrations are adorable and neat, with the focus on each cat’s eye expressiveness. There are a number of different cats throughout the comic. Each offers a variety of quick, but not necessarily forgettable quips. Their musings cover a variety of topics from contentment in the moment to cat behavior humor to expressing how much they love their humans. Some panes also acknowledge anxiety and mental health and offer advice and affirmations.

Overall this is a cute, quick read and perfect for any cat lover. It adds some levity and a dose of adorableness to everyday life.

  1. I’m glad you enjoyed this so much. I’ve seen you mentioning the book before but hadn’t really thought much about the artist. I’ll have to look them up sometime. It sounds like a lovely pick me up though.

    1. It was a nice pick me up and change of pace from my typical reading, which always involves something with a plot. I never read comics in book format, so this was a first for me!

      1. Ooh I’m glad the format worked out for you then. I haven’t read any comics at all. But I would like to check the Charmed ones out one day if I can track some copies down.
