I did an ok job reading from my August 2026 TBR and finished three books and am reading a fourth from that selection. Some of those books are also in my September 2026 TBR. I’m keeping my priority reads list a little shorter this month. My hopeful reads are a selection of nonfiction and mostly nature related since I’m (currently) in the mood for calm reads.
Priority Reads
TOWER OF DAWN by Sarah J. Maas:Â This is the fourth book from last month’s TBR that I’m still working on. I’ve read 36% of it, but put it down in August to read YESTERYEAR.
THORN SEASON by Kiera Azar:Â Same spiel as last month. I’m overdue to read this, which was sent to me by the publisher.
LEVEL UP FOR LOVE by Lenora Woods: This is a September release, so of course it has a priority slot. “Sparks fly as two former college rivals are forced together for a new D&D campaign—clashing both in and out of the game—in this fusion of contemporary second-chance romance and fantasy from the author of Roll for Romance.“
Hopeful Reads
LATE LIGHT by Michael Malay: This is from one of my Blackwell’s purchases this year, though I initially saw it on Janette’s blog. (I don’t know if it’s available in the U.S. It wasn’t on Bookshop.org’s website.) I’m kind of looking for some calmer books for September and so I thought a nature read might do the trick.
THAT QUAIL, ROBERT by Margaret A. Stanger: I found this one at a library sale earlier this year. It’s not very long and looks like it might fit the bill of a calm nature read. “The acclaimed story of the little bird that won the nation’s heart.”
THE STORY OF CO2 IS THE STORY OF EVERYTHING by Peter Brannen: This is the nonfiction science book pick for a reading group on Instagram. I don’t actually participate because I’m never available when they meet, but I am interested in some of the books they read. “How carbon dioxide made planet Earth, shaped human history, and now holds our future in the balance.”
I hope that you enjoy Late Light if you manage to pick it up That Quail Robert definitely looks like a book I would enjoy too

Huh, the C02 book looks really interesting. I’m trying to read at least a few nonfiction books each year, and that may be a good option for me. I do love science books fortelling the end of everything, which it seems like a genre it would be part of

I’m now 70% into Tower of Dawn and still not much has happened. But SJM does a great job with character building that I can’t be too mad about it!
I just started Thorn Season and it’s off to a fast start! I don’t usually gravitate to ya these days, but so far I’m still interested.
I have a soft spot for healing stories so I was hooked on it 😂
