WWW Wednesday: April 23, 2025

Anyone else disliking the update to WordPress? I’m annoyed I can no longer click on an image and resize its width. Now I have to edit its size wholly in html mode. -_- Anyway, welcome to another WWW Wednesday!

WWW Wednesday was revived and hosted by Sam at Taking on a World of Words. The idea is to answer the three questions below and leave a link to your post in the comments for others to look at. No blog? No problem! Just leave a comment with your responses.

What are you currently reading?

What have you just finished reading?

The House in the Cerulean Sea by T.J. Klune

SKY IN THE DEEP by Adrienne Young: I’ve had this on my bookshelf for a while now and decided to finally pick it up. (I also realized the used copy I bought for $4 is actually an Owlcrate edition!) Only I switched to the audiobook after reading some so-so reviews. Frankly, I have to agree with them. While I’m not the target age range for a YA book, the plot is super simple. Girl sees supposedly dead brother in a battle. Girl gets captured by the enemy and realizes her brother is alive. And then girl has to persuade her captor to let her warn her clan that an even worse enemy is going to attack. The only reason I plan to finish it is because I checked it out from the library and I’m not going to let that “purchase” (because digital media are different than physical media) go to waste.

THE HOUSE IN THE CERULEAN SEA by T.J. Klune: I’m finally reading my first T.J. Klune book, look at me! And yes, I am vaguely aware of the controversy surrounding this one. However, I bought the book before that broke, so I still want to read it. Controversy aside, I am enjoying it so far. Lucy is quite entertaining.

More: A Memoir of Open Marriage by Molly Roden WinterThey Knew by Sarah Kendzior

MORE: A MEMOIR OF OPEN MARRIAGE by Molly Winter: As I mentioned last week, there are some critiques of this memoir on Goodreads. I tend to agree with the critique about the author making a Latine dating profile even though that’s not her ethnicity. But, overall, it was an interesting read about someone trying to figure out how to navigate an open marriage.

THEY KNEW by Sarah Kendzior: I didn’t get very far into this before I decided to DNF it. It’s not a bad book, but I just wasn’t interested enough in it. I mean, I and hundreds of millions of others are living the results of it. So, yea, not sure I feel like reading about conspiracy theories and how they helped get us to where we are now.

The Starving Saints by Caitlin Starling

I know in my April TBR post I said that I’d mood read all month. And, for the most part, I have. But we just booked a trip to England and southern Wales next month and I want to knock out an ARC before we go. (I’m so excited to go see Tintagel!!!!) So next up is THE STARVING SAINTS by Caitlin Starling. The tagline is, “a transfixing fever dream of medieval horror following three women in a besieged castle that descends ravenously into madness under the spell of mysterious, godlike visitors.” It looks so interesting and I’m looking forward to diving in.

  1. I’m not sure I know about the WP image sizing thing. Is it related to the block editor? It sounds like moving backwards instead of forwards…Also had to search for info about the Klune book, which I didn’t know about either! I guess I learned a lot today, lol. I’m curious about Starving Saints, can’t wait to hear your thoughts.

    1. Yea, I think I have the block editor. It did move backwards…idk why they’d get rid of that ability to edit an image’s size without having to go straight to the html. Grr.

        1. We’re fitting in a lot in just the span of the week, so we’ll probably be very tired but fulfilled all the time! We’re doing the Cornwall area, Cotswold, Bath, and of course southern Wales. I wanted to visit York, too, but it’s obviously not around there & we just couldn’t squeeze it in. Next time!

          1. That’s a lot to squeeze into one week! I hope that you enjoy all those different places and that the sun shines for you 🤭

  2. I liked House on the Cerulean Sea despite the controversary. Hope that you enjoy your visit to the South West especially Tintagel. It’s a beautiful place in a gorgeous part of the world.

    1. Thank you!!! We have lots of sites picked out. Hopefully we get to visit most of them! I’ll just have to do the rest of the UK some other time.

    1. Thanks! I’ve made slow progress on it because I keep doom scrolling. 🫠 But I am super excited to go on this trip. We have lots of sites picked out to visit.

  3. Such a fun selection of reads! I love seeing what others are diving into each week—it’s a great way to discover books I might otherwise miss. To Shape A Dragon’s Breath sounds really intriguing; I’ve heard mixed things about the pacing, so I’m curious to hear your final thoughts once you’re done.

By the way, I usually work in a totally different field (plumbing/home improvement!), but reading helps me unwind after a long day of repairs and renos. Thanks for keeping this weekly series going—it’s refreshing to see consistent and genuine book talk on the internet!

    1. Hey Aditya, I think you might’ve meant to leave this comment on another blog, but I agree that TO SHAPE A DRAGON’S BREATH sounds interesting!

  4. Good for you on the DNF! I loved House in the Cerulean Sea. I read it way before any of the controversy so it never affected my reading experience. I’m glad you are still able to enjoy it!
