WWW Wednesday: August 5, 2026

In case you missed it yesterday, I posted about my anticipated August 2026 book releases. Go have a look if you want to add to your TBR! 😉 Now, onto WWW Wednesday.

WWW Wednesday was revived and hosted by Sam at Taking on a World of Words. The idea is to answer the three questions below and leave a link to your post in the comments for others to look at. No blog? No problem! Just leave a comment with your responses.

What are you currently reading?

What have you just finished reading?

What are you going to read next?

Currently Reading

Daughter of the Otherworld by Shauna LawlessA Marvellous Light by Freya Marske

DAUGHTER OF THE OTHERWORLD by Shauna Lawless: Like last week, I’m still reading this, but I’m close to finishing it! At the time of writing this post I’ve read 76%, so finishing this book is imminent. Like all Lawless’s books, I like this one. However, I’m not as interested in one of the POVs because now it’s evolved into battle planning. I normally wouldn’t mind too much about that, but there’s like, 150 years between this book and the last and I just can’t keep all the new secondary and tertiary characters straight in this particular POV.

A MARVELLOUS LIGHT by Freya Marske: I’ve picked this one back up now that I finished THE SECRET LIFE OF ALBERT ENTWISTLE. Magical plant chaos has ensued!

Just Finished

The Secret Life of Albert Entwistle by Matt Cain

THE SECRET LIFE OF ALBERT ENTWISTLE by Matt Cain: This was a lovely book about a 65-year-old postal worker who is gay but has never told anyone. The passing of his beloved cat and his imminent retirement make him realize he doesn’t really have a community. So as events unfold he learns and becomes more comfortable sharing about himself, which helps build friendships, find his long lost teenage love, and heal some past teenage trauma. Albert is such a wonderful character. I definitely recommend this book!

In Stormy Weather by Chelsea CurtoHouse of Roots and Ruin by Erin A. Craig

I know I “should” read the next TOG book, but I’m a little tired of picking up books that feel a bit more mandatory (e.g., ARCs and the like). So I think I need to go rogue for my next book and pick one that doesn’t have an agenda before I settle back into TOG. I’m thinking my next physical book will be IN STORMY WEATHER by Chelsea Curto (or the other storm chaser romance I recently bought). And my next audiobook will be HOUSE OF ROOTS AND RUIN by Erin Craig. The latter book is one I’ve had on my physical TBR for a few years now. But as I’ve said before, I’m going to need to switch to audiobook for some of my physical TBR list or I’ll never make progress.
