WWW Wednesday was revived and hosted by Sam at Taking on a World of Words. The idea is to answer the three questions below and leave a link to your post in the comments for others to look at. No blog? No problem! Just leave a comment with your responses.

Emily Wilde's Encyclopaedia of FaeriesThe Hidden Language of Cats by Sarah BrownThe Other Einstein by Marie BenedictThe Land of the Living and the Dead by Shauna Lawless

EMILY WILDE’S ENCYCLOPAEDIA OF FAERIES by Heather Fawcett: Finally I decided to pick this book up! My decision to do so is partly because my mom read it recently, so I thought it could be a conversation topic once I finish it. I’m about 35% through and annoyed at Wendell Brambleby, lol! “A curmudgeonly professor journeys to a small town in the far north in this “incredibly fun journey through fae lands and dark magic” (NPR), the start of a heartwarming and enchanting new fantasy series.

THE HIDDEN LANGUAGE OF CATS by Sarah Brown: I bought this book at least a year ago, maybe two, and am finally getting around to it. The introductory chapter, frankly, didn’t interest me a lot. But once I got into the first informational chapter it got more interesting, thankfully. This is more of a backburner read. “Descended from shy, solitary North African wild cats, domestic cats set up homes with devoted owners all over the world by learning how to talk to us. This book translates—in case you missed anything.

THE OTHER EINSTEIN by Marie Benedict: While I wasn’t unaware of this book thanks to my mom, I’d forgotten about it until I browsed my library’s audiobook offerings. I like to have an audiobook going in addition to my “official” monthly TBR list. Anyway, it’s “the story of a not-so-famous scientist who not only loved Albert Einstein, but also shaped the theories that brought him lasting renown.” I’m only 12% in, but so far I’m finding interesting this historical fiction based on a real person.

THE LAND OF THE LIVING AND THE DEAD by Shauna LawlessI decided to pause my reading on this book while I move through my cozy November TBR list. I’m about 35% in, but even though it’s good, I’m not quite in the mood to read it. So I decided to hold off for the time being.

107 Days by Kamala HarrisThe White Octopus Hotel by Alexandra Bell

107 DAYS by Kamala Harris: This is a great book and one I think any Harris “fan” should read. It was great to hear her perspective about the 107 days leading up to the election. The frenetic pace at which she had to campaign sounded exhausting. I’m glad I listened to it since she narrates the audiobook.

THE WHITE OCTOPUS HOTEL by Alexandra Bell: This book is in my October 2025 book releases post, so when I saw it at one of my local indie bookstore I bought it on a whim. Do I need more books? No. But it called to me and I was battling a little reading slump. This helped pull me out of it. I always listen to my gut with respect to what to read when in a slump and it always works. Pick this one up if you like historical fiction and time travel. “Journey to a magical hotel in the Swiss Alps, where two lost souls living in different centuries meet and discover if a second chance awaits them behind its doors.

The Rainfall Market by You Yeong-Gwang

Next I’ll choose once again from my November TBR. I’m leaning toward THE RAINFALL MARKET by You Yeong-Gwang.

  1. I wanted to read The White Octopus Hotel, but couldn’t fit it in. I’m glad it was a good one, I love the cover so much😁

  2. I totally get what you mean about Wendell. Admittedly, the fae at first annoyed and frustrated me but he grew on me so much over the course of the book. I ended the story loving him and I hope you do too (or at least the story overall)! 💜 I’ve got Rainfall Market on my TBR and have been eyeing it recently. Keen to see what you think of it! Happy reading 🙂
