End of Summer Recap Book Tag

I saw this End of Summer Recap Book Tag on Read You Leyre’s blog. It looked like fun, so here I am doing it for the first time. I’m choosing from books I read from June through September since I already did the Mid-Year Freak Out tag for this year. If anyone wants to join in, feel free! The blank questions are at the end for easy copy and paste into your own blog.

What book can you not stop thinking about?

The Millicent Quibb School of Etiquette for Young Ladies of Mad Science by Kate McKinnon

I really enjoyed listening to the audiobook of THE MILLICENT QUIBB SCHOOL OF ETIQUETTE FOR YOUNG LADIES OF MAD SCIENCE by Kate McKinnon. I didn’t write a formal review for it. But the narration by McKinnon is next level. I can’t wait to listen to the next one.

Which book would you rather not have read?

Same by Hannah Rosenberg

Probably a book of poetry called SAME by Hannah Rosenberg, for reasons I mentioned in my review.

What genre do you read the most?

Fantasy is the genre I read most, in case that wasn’t abundantly clear for any long-time blog followers!

Which book surprised you the most?

The Poet X by Elizabeth Acevedo

Probably THE POET X by Elizabeth Acevedo. It was the first books of hers I read and it’s a novel-in-verse, so I wasn’t sure I’d like it for that reason. However, I read it via audiobook and the author narrates it. This means the narration is at the cadence and emphasis the author wants. So, I enjoyed my time with this audiobook.

Which book disappointed you the most?

Ascension by S.T. Gibson

I don’t think I rated anything lower than 3 stars during the summer months. But, unfortunately, ASCENSION by S.T. Gibson was probably my biggest disappointment. You can check out my review here. In short, it was way too character focused for me, the character created all the problems, and it didn’t really continue the thread of the blood curse from the first book.

What was your favorite cover?

The French Ingredient by Jane BertchTusk Love by Thea GuanzonEverybody Wants to Rule the World Except Me by Django Wexler

There’s a few that I really liked, including THE FRENCH INGREDIENT by Jane Bertch, TUSK LOVE by Thea Guanzon, and EVERYBODY WANTS TO RULE THE WORLD EXCEPT ME by Django Wexler.

What was your favorite summer release?

The Faerie Morgana by Louisa Morgan

I think the only new releases I read were ARCs. So out of those, I definitely pick THE FAERIE MORGANA by Louisa Morgan. This is another entry into Arthurian retellings, but from Morgana’s point of view. I loved the languid pace and how magical it felt.

What book did you plan on reading but never got around to?

Six Wild Crowns by Holly Race

SIX WILD CROWNS is an ARC I’ve been meaning to read for a while now. It came out in June. I do have a few more ARCs, but this one is at the front of the unread pile for me. Everything else has been kind of a mood read, so I’ve done pretty well on those.

Which books do you plan on reading this fall?

The Assassin's Blade by Sarah J. Maas

THE ASSASSIN’S BLADE by Sarah J. Maas is definitely on my list–I already started it. Everything else right now is kind of up in the air. I’m sure I’ll read another ARC or two.

  1. This is a new to me tag, I might need to do it! The Millicent Quibb School looks cute, and I can see why The Faerie Morgan was your favorite book of summer.

  2. I love this tag. I think I would definitely struggle with the favourite cover prompt as there have been so many gorgeous around lately.

  3. Great wrap up tag! I love Elizabeth Acevedo’s audiobooks since she always narrates them herself and you’re right, she emphasizes where she wants to and the emotions always hit all the right notes. Poet X is one of her books I haven’t read yet, so I’m glad to hear the audio is also good for this one. I’ve been looking for an audiobook to listen to during my commute, so this sounds perfect! 🙂

Also love your cover picks, all 3 have such a good vibrant colors!
