After a slow yet chaotic reading month (because I had too many books going at the same time), I feel like I’ve hit a stride. I decided to try to focus on only 2-3 books at a time. One audiobook, one on Kindle, and one physical book. It feels good to finally have completed a few books this month.

WWW Wednesday was revived and hosted by Sam at Taking on a World of Words. The idea is to answer the three questions below and leave a link to your post in the comments for others to look at. No blog? No problem! Just leave a comment with your responses.

Oath Keeper by Ellie LiebermanBossypants by Tina FeyThe Hurricane Wars by Thea Guanzon

OATH KEEPER by Ellie Lieberman: This is a novella assigned to my SFINCS team. I usually knock these out in 1-3 days depending on what I have going on. I’m not too far into it, so no thoughts yet. “After stealing a dragon egg, an Oath Keeper is caught between a few contradicting, binding oaths.”

BOSSYPANTS by Tina Fey: I decided one goal of mine is to read recent Saturday Night Live cast members’ memoirs. So far I’ve read memoirs by Cecily Strong, Leslie Jones, and Colin Jost. Up next is Tina’s! I’m listening to this one on audiobook. While I’m only 5% in, her signature humor already shines through. I think I’ll really like this one.

THE HURRICANE WARS by Thea Guanzon: I started my Fairyloot edition of this book on Sunday night. So far the writing really shines. The grammar is great and so are the descriptions. Because of this, though, I think it will be a slightly slower read for me while I take it all in. I really hope I like this one! It’s got vibes of FOURTH WING x DAUGHTER OF THE MOON GODDESS x SHADOW AND BONE.

The Inside Story of the British Bureau for the Arcane by Phil ParkerOnce Upon A Time in the North by Philip PullmanTo Trick A Trickster by Susana Imaginario

THE INSIDE STORY OF THE BRITISH BUREAU FOR THE ARCANE by Phil Parker: This is one I included in my October TBR. It’s a fast-paced mystery that reminded me of a combination of James Bond meets fantasy. Look out for my review soon!

THE AMBER SPYGLASS by Philip Pullman: I finally finished this trilogy! I’m so pleased about this and made sure to update my Series Completion Challenge table. To be honest, I probably would’ve picked up on more of the critique on religion if I’d read it with my eyeballs. But I still had a good time listening to the full cast audiobook.

ONCE UPON A TIME IN THE NORTH by Philip Pullman: I found this novella via Libby and thought, “why not?” This was a quick listen and I actually really liked the more focused, contained story. It’s a shorter story about one of Lee Scoresby’s adventures in the north.

TO TRICK A TRICKSTER by Susana Imaginário: This is another SFINCS novella. I liked the crossover between Norse and Greek mythology in this one.

THE BLACK HUNGER by Nicholas Pullen: Once I finish THE HURRICANE WARS I plan to read this next. I’m trying to keep up with my ARCs, but sometimes I have to change up the reading order!

  1. The British Bureau for the Arcane sounds intriguing! I’m glad you’re enjoying Tina Fay’s book, I am not familiar with Saturday Night Live people in general but that sounds like a fun reading list 🙂
Also, I really want to read The Black Hunger too!

    1. I love Saturday Night Live, so that’s why it’s my long-term goal to read more cast members’ memoirs haha. I just started THE BLACK HUNGER…not quite sure what to think yet!

      1. That makes sense it’s like a personal project for you and that’s so fun! Hmmm okay well I hope it delivers! 🙂

  2. So glad you actually enjoyed the ending of Philip Pullman’s trilogy! I have never read any of the other stories or novellas, it might be a good way to go back into that world.
I love SNL, I think I’ve only read 1 of their memoirs, hope you enjoy Tina’s!

    1. I kind of want to watch the HBO adaptation of His Dark Materials now that I’ve finished it. But that would mean subscribing to another streaming service. T_T
