Wow, I cannot believe it’s already time for an August 2026 TBR list!!! I feel like 2026 is just getting started! I’m proud of myself for finishing (or DNF) 4 out of my 5 priority reads on my July 2026 TBR list, and also for starting the fifth. That makes things a little more clear cut for my August 2026 TBR.
Priority Reads
DAUGHTER OF THE OTHERWORLD by Shauna Lawless: I read 26% of this last month, so I plan to finish this and finally write my review for this backlogged ARC. It came out last year, so I’m definitely behind on this one.
TOWER OF DAWN by Sarah J. Maas: My first read through of the Throne of Glass series continues! This is the second to last book in the whole series. I’m ready to be devastated.
THE SECRET LIFE OF ALBERT ENTWISTLE by Matt Cain: By the end of July I’d listened to ~80% of this audiobook, so I feel confident I can polish it off early this month.
THORN SEASON by Kiera Azar: The publisher sent me a nice finished copy of this at the end of 2025. For one reason or another I just haven’t gotten around to reading this first book of a YA fantasy trilogy. The author is one of the actresses from the Netflix adaptation of Shadow and Bone.
LEVEL UP FOR LOVE by Lenora Woods: Last year I read this author’s Roll For Romance and had a good time with it. I was very happy to receive a widget for this one. Hopefully I enjoy it as much or more as Woods’s other D&D-related romance. “Sparks fly as two former college rivals are forced together for a new D&D campaign—clashing both in and out of the game—in this fusion of contemporary second-chance romance and fantasy from the author of Roll for Romance.“
Hopeful Reads
A MARVELLOUS LIGHT by Freya Marske: I started this last month, too, but had to put it aside while we traveled to Taiwan and Japan because I didn’t have a digital copy of it. Anyway, I’m back home now and hopefully I can finish it this month. “Red, White & Royal Blue meets Jonathan Strange & Mr Norrell in debut author Freya Marske’s A Marvellous Light, featuring an Edwardian England full of magic, contracts, and conspiracies.“
IN STORMY WEATHER by Chelsea Curto: I feel like it’s been 84 years since I last read a STEMinist romance. I’m super excited about this one because I loved the Twister movie as a kid. There was a short time I thought about going into a weather-related field of science. That doesn’t mean I know anything about the science, but I find it all fascinating! “From bestselling indie author Chelsea Curto comes an academic rivals-to-lovers romance about storm-chasing meteorologists during hurricane season in Florida—perfect for fans of Ali Hazelwood and B.K. I majorly need to try one of Shauna Lawless’s books soon as most are sitting on my Kindle. I’m also curious about In Stormy Weather and used to love the Twister movie too. Somehow I haven’t yet managed to watch the new one though
