Since I like the idea of giving mini updates about books I won’t review, I’m back for another WWW Wednesday! This is a weekly meme, so I’ll just focus on what I’ve been up to during the past week. If you missed my last one, you can take a look at it here.
WWW Wednesday was revived and hosted by Sam at Taking on a World of Words. The idea is to answer the three questions below and leave a link to your post in the comments for others to look at. No blog? No problem! Just leave a comment with your responses.

What have you just finished reading?

Currently Reading
As usual, I have a bunch of books started, but my focus is on a few. I’m re-reading A COURT OF FROST AND STARLIGHT by Sarah J. Maas, this time via GraphicAudio (the dramatized version). It’s awesome, as expected. And a nice comfort read at the moment.
LORE OF THE WILDS by Analeigh Sbrana: Look at me, I’m finally reading this! I got an ARC of it right around its publication date at the end of February. There was no way I could read it in time for that, so I gave myself some leeway. It turns out this was Fairyloot’s very first romantasy pick, so instead I’m now reading the nice finished version. I haven’t read much, so I can’t really offer an opinion yet. But I’m looking forward to reading about more fae!
THE MONUMENTS MEN by Robert M. Edsel: My mom gifted this to me. Since I’m trying to slowly clean up my shelves and I know I’m not going to keep this one, I decided to started listening to it on audiobook. Again, I’m not very far into it, but I’m looking forward to learning more about the people who saved art from the Nazis. I know it’s a movie, too, but I’ve never watched it.
Recently Finished
POISON IN THEIR HEARTS by Laura Sebastian: This is the conclusion to the Castles in Their Bones trilogy. It’s a thick book (500+ pages), but it moves along quickly enough. It kind of has to be that long because this whole trilogy is about political scheming and minding one’s opponent. To shorten it would be a disservice to that whole point. I thought it was a fitting finale and I shed some tears at the end. I’m happy to finish a series this year!
THE BOOK EATERS by Sunyi Dean: I listened to this via audiobook rather than read the physical copy I own. I love when a SFF book is a standalone! Anyway, the narrator is fantastic. While the themes of the book aren’t wholly unique (what is these days?), how the author applied them to the story was refreshing. The concept of a people who eat books for sustenance is odd enough. But to learn the patriarchy keeps them stuck in the past added a whole other level. I definitely enjoyed this book.
THE MIRACULOUS JOURNEY OF EDWARD TULANE by Kate DiCamillo: This is a children’s book recommended to me by a friend. I’d never heard of it before, but it’s a good story! It’s about this china rabbit who doesn’t appreciate the human family he has. But then tragedy befalls him and he ends up rotating through various people’s lives. Not sure what I expected, but I’m glad it has a happy ending! The narrator for the audiobook is also wonderful.
NOT ANOTHER LOVE SONG by Julie Soto: I should trust my gut more often! For whatever reason this book kept calling to me, so I obliged that little voice. I absolutely loved it. I can’t help but compare every spice scene to the amazing Chapter 55 of ACOMAF. And this hits! It was those vibes all over again (which of course are subjective). Great tension. Plus I obviously liked the story, too, otherwise I truly wouldn’t have appreciated the spice as much. Now I have to go read FORGET ME NOT at some point!
Reading Next
I think by the time I finish the above books it will be Trope-ical Readathon time. I don’t know what book I’ll start with. But there’s a high chance it’ll be THE BLUEST EYE by Toni Morrison to fulfill the Banned Books challenge. I also have FUNNY STORY by Emily Henry on hold at the library. That is a priority read because it has a long holds list.
What are you reading? Do tell!
I loved The Book Eaters, it was much darker than I expected. I wish the author would write something else…
Yea, it was pretty messed up how the book eaters patriarchal society was…I think it would’ve seemed darker to me if I’d read a physical copy of it. When I read audiobooks I def don’t get as into it as having a physical copy. BUT I did still enjoy it!
Looks like you had a great reading week and I’m excited to see that you loved Book Eaters and Not Another Love Song as both are on my TBR 😍 I also hope to finish Sebastien’s trilogy this year but I still need to read the second book first (and probably re-read the first, lol). I hope you continue enjoying your reads and have a great week ahead!
Not Another Love Song was fantastic!!
I still have to read Poison in their hearts and I am glad to see it was a good conclusion! I can’t wait to get to it when I can get it from the library.
It was! I hope you enjoy it, too!
I really loved The Book Eaters, too. I agree that the narrator did a fantastic job of bringing the story to life. I hope you enjoy Funny Story!
Thanks! I picked up Funny Story from the library yesterday, but need to finish a different book first. I’m reading just a few too many right now haha.
