WWW Wednesday: May 20, 2026

Before I jump into WWW Wednesday, I just want to say I added a couple books to my Arthurian Retellings Reading List post. There are, obviously, lots of retellings out there, so the two I added are ones I’ve read recently. And if you didn’t know I had this post, now you do!

WWW Wednesday was revived and hosted by Sam at Taking on a World of Words. The idea is to answer the three questions below and leave a link to your post in the comments for others to look at. No blog? No problem! Just leave a comment with your responses.

What are you currently reading?

What have you just finished reading?

What are you going to read next?

Rolls and Rivalry by Kristy BoyceDefy the Night by Brigid Kemmerer

ROLLS AND RIVALRY by Kristy Boyce: At the time of writing this post I was over 70% through this YA ARC. If I didn’t finish it last night, then hopefully I’ll do so tonight. Right now my impression is that this book is fine. I think it’s the weakest of the three, in my opinion. I’ll get into more detail in my review. On the positive side, I’m flying through it.

DEFY THE NIGHT by Brigid Kemmerer: I haven’t moved the dial much past 60% in the last week, I’m afraid. I just haven’t done any extended periods of monotonous tasks, so my audiobook time has suffered, so to speak.

Just Finished

The Geomagician by Jennifer Mandula

THE GEOMAGICIAN by Jennifer Mandula: I finished this last week as a buddy read with Chris! I went in hesitant based on mixed reviews, but ended up liking it. If you missed my review, you can read it here. That’s another ARC down, so I’m happy about that.

This Land Is Your Land by Beverly Gage

As much as I want to pivot away from ARCs, I’m trying to stay committed to them this month so I can make a dent in my backlog. Next up I plan to pivot to nonfiction with THIS LAND IS YOUR LAND by Beverly Gage. “Ride along with Pulitzer Prize–winning historian Beverly Gage as she travels the country to see the museums, historic sites, roadside attractions, reenactments, and souvenir shops where Americans learn—and fight—about our history.”

  1. This Land is Your Land sounds like fun! Also, I like the idea that you update your Arthurian retellings post. I have a couple posts like that and now you’ve inspired me to keep adding to them😁

  2. Well done for making a dent in your ARC pile. I hope you enjoy This Land is your Land as it sounds really interesting.
