Since I’ve been writing a lot of 2025 recap posts, I haven’t really had time to do a WWW Wednesday yet. I try not to let blogging steal too much of my time, so unfortunately this fun, easy meme went to the wayside for a couple of weeks. That said, here’s my first one of 2026.
WWW Wednesday was revived and hosted by Sam at Taking on a World of Words. The idea is to answer the three questions below and leave a link to your post in the comments for others to look at. No blog? No problem! Just leave a comment with your responses.

LONG LIVE EVIL by Sarah Rees Brennan: This is another case where I’ve had this Fairyloot edition for so long that I need to scramble to read it before the next one comes out. I don’t recall seeing a lot of reviews for this, but what I have heard about it has been mixed. “This adult epic fantasy debut from Sarah Rees Brennan puts the reader in the villain’s shoes, for an adventure that is both “brilliant” (Holly Black) and “supremely satisfying” (Leigh Bardugo). Expect a rogue’s gallery of villains including an axe wielding maid, a shining knight with dark moods, a homicidal bodyguard, and a playboy spymaster with a golden heart and a filthy reputation.“
Just Finished

THE ADVENTURES OF AMINA AL-SIRAFI by Shannon Chakraborty: This book was well written and I’m really glad I made time to read it before the sequel. It was a solid four stars for me due to the writing, solid characterization of Amina, and creative adventures. I also love that she’s an older character (around 40), which I personally don’t see much in my own reading of fantasy books. However, it wasn’t bingeable and I didn’t find myself longing to return to it, so hence no five stars from me. But that doesn’t mean I didn’t like it, just that I’m maybe not 100% the right reader for it. I don’t usually gravitate toward sea adventures, and that probably has something to do with how I feel about it.
HOW TO LOSE A GOBLIN IN TEN DAYS by Jessie Sylva: Oh, how I wanted to love this one. I’m super picky with what cozy fantasies I try because I know I like higher stakes. But unfortunately this ARC fell flat for me and I forced myself to finish it by skim reading the last third. I posted my review a couple of days ago.
THE GREAT HURRICANE: 1938 by Cherie Burns: I found this nonfiction while browsing the “available now” audiobooks on Libby. I’m glad I found it because the account of this horrible hurricane that hit Long Island and New England in 1938 is terrifying. The author did a great job assembling historical accounts. It’s amazing how the hurricane changed the landscape. The statistics provided at the end were astounding.
SILVER & BLOOD by Jessie Mihalik: This is another ARC I finished recently and I have mixed feelings about it. I enjoyed it more than HOW TO LOSE A GOBLIN IN TEN DAYS. But it still had some flaws. I liked it enough to read the sequel, though. Stay tuned for my review of it next week. “On a deadly mission to kill the mythical beast that has been haunting her woods, a desperate mage finds her fate intertwined with the handsome, powerful man who saves her in this dark and sexy romantasy.”

I should probably pick from my January 2026 TBR. So I might go with MIGRATIONS by Charlotte McConaghy.

I did not know that the character from The Adventures of Amina Al-Sirafi was in her 40s either, that is very cool! Hope you have another great reading week!
Yea, it’s great to see older characters in fantasy books!
I’m glad you reminded me about Migrations, I’d love to read it this year too. I also need to get to Silver & Blood in the next two weeks.
You’re welcome! I hope I can get to MIGRATIONS before I have to return it…I’m not doing very well on my physical TBR this month, lol.
Too bad the goblin one didn’t work out. The title and cover do look really fun!
I know, the cover looks lovely! I wish it had worked out for me.
I need to read, “Long Live Evil,” before the sequel, too. I’m glad you enjoyed, “The Adventures of Amina al-Sirafi.”
I’m hoping I can get back into LONG LIVE EVIL this weekend…I’ve been a bit busy this week and have barely read anything. 🙁
Bummer about How to Lose a Goblin in Ten Days. I keep seeing very low-mid reviews for it and have taken it off my TBR for now.
New follower here. 🙂
I’d be happy to comment on your blog, but is there a way you can allow someone to comment without using their gmail account?
Interesting, because I’ve seen mostly good reviews for it! Even on Goodreads. I feel like I’m in the minority opinion here with HOW TO LOSE A GOBLIN IN TEN DAYS.
Oh no, I’m bummed to hear that about Silver and Blood (but I’m glad to hear that you enjoyed it more than Goblin)! 😮💨 I’ll keep an eye out for your review. Hope your current and future reads are awesome, Celeste!
It’s all good…I finished a couple of good reads this past weekend, so it evens out the scoreboard haha.
I had similar feelings about Amina. It was well-written and I did enjoy it, but I never felt especially pulled back to it between reading sessions. Still debating if I’m going to read the sequel.
Yes, same! I haven’t decided if I want to splurge a little on the special edition sequel.
