KATABASIS by R.F. Kuang: I’m still reading KATABASIS! We’ve got another 9 chapters to read this week for our group buddy read. Not sure what sort of resolution Kuang has planned, but I’m happy to come along for the ride into hell.
KILT TRIP by Alexandra Kiley: We all need a light read in our back pocket, yes? Well, this is mine, currently. I checked it out in audiobook form and it’s pleasant enough. I enjoy the male narrator’s Scottish accent. Here, the FMC has a job to help a small Scottish tour company revamp how they give tours. She’s there to help them modernize and make money, but the MMC is resistant because he cares more about simply sharing the beauty of Scotland.

HOUSE OF SALT AND SORROW by Erin Craig:Â I finished my audiobook of this over the weekend. I was going to give it a 3.5, but the twist at the end made me give it a 3.75. The second half was more interesting than the first. Though there wasn’t a ton of foreshadowing that I picked up on, so the ending felt like it came out of nowhere. I have the next book in this duology to read. I don’t know when I’ll get to it.
GET IT OUT by Andrea Becker: This is a nonfiction about the politics of the hysterectomy. It’s definitely interesting and not completely surprising to me to read about. The author does a great job including stories from a lot of different voices such as queer, trans, cisgender, Latine, Black, and White folks. Because this is a pdf I have to read on my computer on the Thorium app, I can’t highlight passages to help guide my review. So, let’s hope I can remember enough of this academic text to write my review!

I think next I’ll pick up HEAVENLY BODIES by Imani Erriu. I want to read ASSASSIN’S BLADE next, but I have a digital copy on my Kindle and can always read that during my upcoming travel.

I read House of Salt and Sorrow the year it came out, and I remember having mixed feelings about it. It sounds like Katabasis is going well!
Ok Heavenly Bodies sounds excellent, adding to TBR. Will have to look for it on my next bookshop trip!
We are almost through our journey in hell with Katabasis! haha. It’s been interesting, for sure. Ohh, I really liked Heavenly Bodies. I hope you do too. Have a great week!
Im glad the group buddy read of Katabasis is going well 🥰 I’ll be watching out for your thoughts on it. Its been a little while since I read it but I think I felt similarly to you with House Of Salt & Sorrow, I enjoyed it but not quite as much as I expected to. The next one however blew me away and was a surprise favourite for me. Although it does lean into its gothic vibes and I think I remember you saying you’re not always a fan of them so I hope it ends up working for you too whenever you get to it.
