A CURSE CARVED IN BONE by Danielle Jensen: I’ve not made a ton of progress on this in the past week for several reasons, one of which is I needed to finish LOVELY ONE before returning it to the library. I’m enjoying it, but so far I think I like the first book better. Maybe my opinion will change once more pieces fall into place.
A WIZARD’S GUIDE TO DEFENSIVE BAKING by T. Kingfisher: The premise of this book is fun/unique! There’s no set magic system, but there are some folks who can do magic. And that magic can be who knows what. Mona, the lead, has magic that allows her to temper bread, which is useful since she works in a bakery. So far she’s been accused of murder and almost been murdered! I’m definitely enjoying this audiobook.
Just Finished

LOVELY ONE by Ketanji Brown Jackson: This is a well-written memoir by the newest SCOTUS justice. I enjoyed learning more about her and appreciate her work ethic. It was interesting to learn she has a performance streak and enjoys getting up in front of people. I suppose that’s an important quality to have as one of the highest justices in the U.S.

MAILMAN by Stephen Grant: I need a break from fantasy, so I think I’ll read this ARC next.

I saw someone else talking about Mailman and I’m intrigued. I mean, who doesn’t love the mail? Oh and the Kingfisher! I’ve seen a lot of love for that one too😁
Was it me? Because I mentioned Mailman last WWW, haha!! I’m really liking this Wizard’s Baking book by Kingfisher.
I did love sourdough Bob 🙂
Me too, but Spindle was excellent, too!
Ok I really need to start reading Kingfisher, seems like the author to be reading right now and that title is amazing 😁
A Wizard’s Guide to Defensive Baking was good!! I cried a little at the end haha.
Defensive Baking sounds like another fun read from T Kingfisher. She certainly writes books quickly. I do love her sense of humour though and always find something that makes me laugh although I haven’t read any of her more horror based stories.
It was a fun read! It was such a unique premise. It had lighthearted moments and darker ones and memorable characters. I think you’d like this one!
That’s a bummer about the Jensen book. I didn’t love the first one. I’m not sure that I’ll continue. I do hope it picks up for you!!
I’ve decided to pause it for now. I fully intended to keep reading it, but got sidetracked by some meh news and am having trouble concentrating on things with too much plot, lol.
Oh, no! I’m so sorry. I’m a huge mood reader and I completely understand. I hope everything is okay! <3
Kingfisher really could write just about anything, and I would read it, hahaha. Hope you enjoy these!
I’m slowly coming to realize how fun Kingfisher’s stuff is. For the most part I’ve liked everything I’ve read so far, though I didn’t continue with the House of Usher retelling.
