I think I’m more or less finished with my lowkey blog hiatus? I find myself not being turned off by the idea of sitting down and writing posts. So I guess the hiatus did its job and allowed me some time to reset. That’s good news! It could also be that I’m taking a couple weeks off from dance and so feel like I have more free time. But, let’s not start thinking too deeply on that! I’ve got a new WWW Wednesday this week instead!
WWW Wednesday was revived and hosted by Sam at Taking on a World of Words. The idea is to answer the three questions below and leave a link to your post in the comments for others to look at. No blog? No problem! Just leave a comment with your responses.
What are you currently reading?
What have you just finished reading?
What are you going to read next?

LOVELY ONE by Ketanji Brown Jackson: I’m slowly making my way through this. I haven’t done a ton of house chores the past few days, so I haven’t made a lot of progress yet. But so far I like it. I wouldn’t call it anything revelatory, at least at this point. But I do like learning about our newest liberal SCOTUS judge.
A CURSE CARVED IN BONE by Danielle Jensen: This is the final book of a duology, so why not pick it up as a mood read between ARCs? I’m not too far into it, maybe 30-40 pages or so. But I hope it’s a good finale!
Recently Finished

EVERYBODY WANTS TO RULE THE WORLD EXCEPT ME by Django Wexler: I finished this late last week and enjoyed it more than the first book, thankfully! My review will be up for this book tomorrow morning, for those who want to read more about it.
MY MONTICELLO by Jocelyn Nicole Johnson: The first 60 pages or so are a collection of short stories. The rest is the eponymous MY MONTICELLO novella. I heard about this book a few years ago in my book club, so I snatched it up when I saw it at my local library sale a couple months ago. It showcases fictional snapshots of lives of Black people. But the writing style was a little too abstract for me to try to better connect or understand the characters. So I DNF it.
TUSK LOVE by Thea Guanzon: I put this ARC on my July 2025 TBR, but decided to binge it the last two days of June. I plan to write and post my review soon, hopefully next week. The good news is it’s out in the U.S. now, so order it from your nearest bookstore! “A merchant’s daughter who yearns for adventure gets more than she bargained for when she falls for a broodingly handsome stranger in this saucy romantasy from the New York Times bestselling author of The Hurricane Wars.“
Reading Next

I haven’t decided yet, but my next read will either be MAILMAN by Stephen Grant or ASCENSION by S.T. Gibson. It depends on whether I want to read another fantasy book or take a break from that genre.

The Mailman looks like it should be really interesting. Hope you enjoy whichever of these two you pick up next
Thanks! Maybe I’ll start Mailman late this week…depends on whether I finish the Danielle Jensen book.
I’m looking forward to hearing more about Tusk Love! It’s kind of a crazy title, lol.
Always more fantasy, what kind of question is that?!
It’s so excited to read Tusk Love, it’s on my list for August to keep me to my book buying ban this month. Lots of time for more anticipation 😁
I knowwww, but sometimes I need a break from fantasy to keep loving it, if that makes sense! 🙂
Tusk Love is excellent, highly recommend!
Lovely One has been popping up in one of my feeds lately. I hope you enjoy the rest of it — I’ll be interested to hear more. Nice to hear that your hiatus left you feeling more into blogging again!
Well that’s cool, because I haven’t seen it pop up on my feeds at all! Kind of disappointing, really. It was a great memoir. I’m glad I listened to it as an audiobook because KJB narrates it herself. It was nice to learn more about her and that she has a strong work ethic and objectivity.
