It’s the last WWW Wednesday in May and I’m afraid I don’t have much to show for it! It’s been two weeks since my last WWW Wednesday and I finished one novella. Poof. That’s it! This is partially because I took a trip to the UK for nine days. And it’s partially because I’ve been in a bit of a reading slump, which isn’t great because I have ARCs to read. Anyway, let’s get on with it!
WWW Wednesday was revived and hosted by Sam at Taking on a World of Words. The idea is to answer the three questions below and leave a link to your post in the comments for others to look at. No blog? No problem! Just leave a comment with your responses.

CLOUD WARRIORS by Thomas E. Weber: I’m about 65% through this ARC. I enjoy the topic (weather), but for whatever reason I feel like it’s taking me forever to get through, which I’m blaming on my slump. The author divides the book into several topics: tornadoes, fire, hyperlocal weather, heat, and hurricanes. He does his best to keep the jargon under control, but it does add up after a while! “The unprecedented inside story of the people pushing boundaries of science and technology to build better weather forecasts—providing life-saving warnings and crucial intelligence about nature’s deadliest threats.”
THE ONCE AND FUTURE KING by T.H. White: I’m slowly making my way through this. I didn’t read as much as I thought I would while on vacation. Regardless, I’m 75 pages in. It’s kind of fun to think about how Disney adapted the first story (Sword in the Stone) while reading it.
DAUGHTER OF BLACK LAKE by Cathy Marie Buchanan: Technically, I’m still reading this, but obviously put it on pause while I was traveling. I’m keeping it on pause while I work on CLOUD WARRIORS and the next book, THE KNIGHT AND THE MOTH.
THE KNIGHT AND THE MOTH by Rachel Gillig: I have no business reading this right now what with all my outstanding ARCs. But I’m just trying to get out of my slump! So far this is helping and within two days I’ve read the fist 130 pages. I’m really enjoying it so far. “From New York Times bestselling author Rachel Gillig comes the next big romantasy sensation, a gothic, mist-cloaked tale of a young prophetess forced on an impossible quest with the one knight whose future is beyond her sight.“

THE LOST SISTERS by Holly Black: A few weeks ago I found out that Black published a novella in 2018 that’s within the Folk in the Air series. It was fine, a nice quick listen on audio. It’s from Taryn’s point of view as she falls in love with Locke.

I received a couple of physical ARCs in the mail last week: EVERYBODY WANTS TO RULE THE WORLD EXCEPT ME by Django Wexler and THE NIGHTSHADE GOD by Hannah Whitten. Even though I’m not done with my June ARCs yet, I think I’ll jump to THE NIGHTSHADE GOD. I want to see if I like it enough to buy the Fairyloot special edition and finish out the set.

Your trans-atlantic travel is obviously different to mine as I’m planning on putting a large dent in my pile of July ARCs while I sit around in airports and planes 😃I always think of Wart and Madam Mim too when I read The Once and Future King
I loved The Foxlgove king and the sequel so I’m really hoping that Nightshade God lives up to that. Fingers crossed that The Knight and the Moth continues to help you out of your reading slump
I think you read faster than I do, too! I wanted to make a bigger dent, but I’ve been struggling to make progress. 🙁 I did make a good dent in CLOUD WARRIORS. But this time my brain just wanted movies.
I hope THE NIGHTSHADE GOD ends up being good, too! Looking forward to finishing this trilogy.
Movies are good especially on the night journey when I can’t sleep. I do read fairly quickly too
Sightseeing takes priority every time, if you ask me. I feel your pain on struggling to avoid the slump so I hope those books work for you!
Totally agree with you! Usually at the end of the day before bed I take some time to read after all the sightseeing, but I just didn’t feel like it!
I don’t usually read much on trips either. I have been hearing good things about The Knight and the Moth, which I didn’t request, so I’m enjoying it vicariously through reviews!
This was an exception for me…I’ve gotten a decent amount of reading done in the past while on travel. But I just wasn’t feeling it this time and that’s ok. 🙂 I also didn’t request THE KNIGHT AND THE MOTH, but because I knew it’d be in one of my book subs. So now I have a lovely edition of it. ^_^
Glad to hear that The Knight and the Moth is kind of helping you through the slumpy feels! I’m quite excited to check it out and I also really love that cover (I get stuck on the details of it every time I see it, lol) 😍 I hope you enjoy all the other reads you pick up!
Phew, me too! I’m so glad this book is helping me with my slump. If you liked her duology you’ll probably like THE KNIGHT AND THE MOTH, too. In fact, I like it more.
