Sundays In Bed With…Abhorsen

And just like that another two months has passed since my last Sundays In Bed With… post. No biggie since I decided to cut back on meme posts anyway.

For those who don’t know, The Sundays in Bed With… meme, hosted by Midnight Book Girl, dares to ask what book has been in your bed this morning. Come share what book you’ve spent time curled up reading in bed, or which book you wish you had time to read today!

Chris and I are buddy reading the last book of this trilogy. And I’m really glad we are because one of my goals this year is to finish reading some series I’d started. As of last night I hit the 50% mark. One of the things I love about these books is how easy they are to read. It’s easy to slip in and out of the story, especially since right now I feel a bit restless and unsure of what I want to read. Anyway, this book is definitely the darkest of the three. I won’t say much more in case anyone here hasn’t yet read them.

Author: Garth Nix
Series: The Old Kingdom #3
Age Category: Young Adult
Publisher: Eos

From Bookshop.org:

The apocalyptic conclusion to the New York Times bestselling Abhorsen series–an epic fantasy experience not to be missed.

The Abhorsen Sabriel and King Touchstone are missing, leaving only Lirael–newly come into her inheritance as the Abhorsen-in-Waiting–to stop the Destroyer. If Orannis’s unspeakable powers are unleashed, it will mean the end of all Life. With only a vision from the Clayr to guide her, and the help of her companions, Sam, the Disreputable Dog, and Mogget, Lirael must search in both Life and Death for some means to defeat the evil destructor–before it is too late. . . .

  1. It’s nice to have books like this around when you’re not sure what your mood is. I’m feeling the same way, with too many choices right now!

    1. Isn’t that the truth…I have a good feeling that after I get a few non-fantasy books through my system that I’ll feel more like myself again and reach for another fantasy book. I need a reset I guess!

  2. I agree that this one is just so easy to pick up and read. I’ve been restless, too, and struggling with sticking to a particular book. I’ve found myself reaching for this one when I’m having trouble concentrating on my other books.

    1. Omg same! Idk what it is this month, but I’m just super restless with most of the books I have started. I just want to finish them and get them over with (not that they’re bad books). I think I’ll feel better or more organized once I can cross off a couple of in-progress books as done. But I’m also feeling like I need a break from fantasy? Idk.

  3. I’ve had this author on my TBR for YEARS at this point, and I can’t believe I still haven’t read any of their books. I hope you enjoy your buddy read. And no worries about feeling restless about what books to read– I get that a lot too!

    1. I was in a similar situation–I’d heard of this trilogy for decades, but only recently have I been interested enough in it to go for it. Glad to know I’m not the only one who feels restless about their reads sometimes. 🙂
