Book Blogger Hop: March 17-23

The Book Blogger Hop was originally created by Jennifer @ Crazy-For-Books in March 2010 and ended on December 31, 2012. With Jennifer’s permission, Coffee Addicted Writer relaunched the hop on February 15, 2013. Each week the hop will start on a Friday and end the following Thursday. There will be a weekly prompt featuring a book related question. The hop’s purpose is to give bloggers a chance to follow other blogs, learn about new books, befriend other bloggers, and receive new followers to your own blog.

This Week’s Question

Do you post every day on your blog and/or social media? (Elizabeth @ Silver’s Reviews)

With respect to social media, yes, I post on it every day. I definitely post something every day on Twitter, whether it’s to promote another blogger, reply to tweets, or link to my own posts. I’m also on Instagram. And while I post fairly frequently there, it’s mostly to my Instastories. I don’t post often to the grid because I put my more creative energy into my blog.

As for my blog, no, I don’t post every day. It takes a lot of time and effort to create content. This is especially true for longer-form content like book reviews, massive list posts, and discussion topics. That said, I do post more frequently than I used to. I started blogging two years ago and now I more or less feel like I’m in the swing and habit of things. I know what book memes I like to do and how to format my book reviews. In general, I try to stick to quality content over quantity of content. I feel that if I strived for quantity over quality then inevitably the quality of my content would decrease. If there was two of me, or if this was my full-time job, then perhaps posting every day would be more feasible!

    1. Time is definitely the limiting factor (unsurprisingly!). It can be difficult at times to try and balance it all, but I think our bookish community is pretty understanding. ^_^

  1. I try to post on my blog every day but with my new job, I feel like I might need to cut back on a couple of days as I just don’t have the time. I love doing weekly memes which makes it easy to post regularly but the reviews definitely take time and since I’m not reading as much these days, there’s less to post! I’ve been wanting to post more on social media, especially bookstagram, but there’s just never enough time!

    1. Agree that the weekly memes help a lot with consistency and staying in the habit of posting. I am always in awe of those who can post every day, yourself included (though I know your new job has demanded a lot from you!).

  2. This is a great question! I think it’s healthy to have time away from socials/blog if possible, but I do keep a consistent schedule. MWF blog posts, MWF IG posts, and so on. The only platforms I’m terrible at keeping up with are Twitter and TikTok haha. I scroll on Twitter a lot, but my posts never get interaction, so I rarely post *shrug*. And TikTok just doesn’t perform as well for me with the aesthetic video content I create for IG.

    1. I think keeping a consistent schedule is a great way to keep the ball rolling. I don’t know how much the audience pays attention to it (at least, I know I don’t know what people’s post schedules are!), but I think it helps us as bloggers stay on track. I don’t even have a TikTok, so I don’t know what that’s like!

  3. This is such a great topic! I post on my blog every day (probably because I can schedule it in advance and I’m a really fast reader), but I’m so bad about staying consistent on social media. Looks like I still need some work on finding balance, the ongoing struggle of my life!

    1. Yes, you are a SUPER fast reader and I am constantly jealous, lol. That means you also have to be great at organizing and writing your reviews quickly, which I think you excel at, too!

  4. Weekly memes help a lot with posting more often. I just never do it consistently. lol. I just get overwhelmed and burnt out. I am even worse with Twitter and Instagram. I do a lot of re-tweeting my blogger friend’s posts but that’s about it.

    1. Agreed–if I didn’t do weekly memes I’d probably only post about once a week! Not that numbers matter with respect to views, comments, etc., but it is nice to have interaction and one post per week doesn’t reel in that much interaction. Hey, that’s great that you RT others’ posts…I think that’s super important to do! 🙂
