September 2022 TBR List

As I said last month in my August TBR post, I almost always stay away from making a TBR list. However, I followed my August one pretty well, so I thought I’d try it again. This time I have less ARCs to read, but I still have a minimum of four I need/want to read for various reasons. The book covers link to the official synopses.

Book Blogger Hop: September 2-8

The Book Blogger Hop was originally created by Jennifer @ Crazy-For-Books in March 2010 and ended on December 31, 2012. With Jennifer’s permission, Coffee Addicted Writer relaunched the hop on February 15, 2013. Each week the hop will start on a Friday and end the following Thursday. There will be a weekly prompt featuring a book related question. The hop’s purpose is to give bloggers a chance to follow other blogs, learn about new books, befriend other bloggers, and receive new followers to your own blog.

Monthly Book Blog Wrap-Up: August 2022

August was a fantastic reading month for me in terms of quantity of books. I managed to complete six books, all of which I assigned to various Common Challenges in the August Trope-ical Readathon. While it was a great reading month, I felt a bit overwhelmed for a number of reasons. I had three ARCs to read; one book to read so I could give it back to a relative this weekend; and one book I needed to read before returning it to the library. I also decided to join Jordyn’s Sabriel read-a-long; even though it’s casual, I felt a little stressed to read the first 10 chapters by the end of this week.

Additionally, I dealt with an allergic reaction to a plant, which wasn’t fun. At first I thought it was oak mite bites (an after effect of the presence of periodic cicadas…Google it). Then it got way worse, so I thought it was poison ivy. But that didn’t line up because I hadn’t gardened near poison ivy. After more internet sleuthing I decided it was caused by a hyacinth bulb. Yes, you read right, a hyacinth bulb.

Sabriel Read-a-Long Part One

Jordyn @ Birdie’s Book Nook decided to start a read-a-long of SABRIEL, the first book in the Old Kingdom series because it’s one of her favorite books. Having never read it myself, I decided to join as I thought it’d be a good way to finally read it. I mean, it’s only been floating around for over 20 years, so better late than never! Since the read-a-long discussion occurs in the blogosphere (or wherever you discuss bookish things), no specific time commitment is required. It looks like Jordyn will post a set of discussion questions each week, the first of which is here.

As I’m on vacation, I don’t have a ton of time to sit down and answer each question, so I picked one to focus on.
