April 2025 On My Radar

I wasn’t sure I’d saved enough posts this month because there were multiple periods where I was a little MIA during April. But I thank past me for favoriting things on BlueSky to add to my April 2025 On My Radar. I also added a “News” section. While I don’t typically read a ton of bookish news, I though on the occasion that I do, perhaps others might be interested, too. Anyway, allons-y to the April 2025 On My Radar goodies!

WWW Wednesday: April 23, 2025

Anyone else disliking the update to WordPress? I’m annoyed I can no longer click on an image and resize its width. Now I have to edit its size wholly in html mode. -_- Anyway, welcome to another WWW Wednesday!

WWW Wednesday was revived and hosted by Sam at Taking on a World of Words. The idea is to answer the three questions below and leave a link to your post in the comments for others to look at. No blog? No problem! Just leave a comment with your responses.

2025 Quarter Year Crisis Book Tag

I’ve seen this 2025 Quarter Year Crisis Book Tag floating around lately, most recently on Leslie’s blog. So I thought I’d join the fun. Apparently the only time I did the Quarter Year Crisis Book Tag was in 2023. This book tag was originally created by Roisin’s Reading on YouTube.

How many books have you read so far?

So far I’ve read 42 books. Novellas and audiobooks helped pump that number up so early in the year.

Have you already found a book you think might be a 2025 favorite?

Nope! There’s definitely still room for me to find a favorite. Of course there have been some books I quite enjoyed, but none that were a true “omg” 5-star read.

If not what was your favorite book you read that wasn’t quite five-star?

A Feather So Black by Lyra SeleneNot In Love by Ali HazelwoodThe Hate U Give by Angie Thomas

These are the three books that were almost 5-star reads for me. I rated each of these 4.5 stars.

Any 1-star books / least favorite book of the year?

Isabella Nagg and the Pot of Basil by Oliver DarkshireGothel and the Maiden Prince by W.R. Gingell

I’ve never rated a book just one star and that continues to hold true. However, my least favorite book of the year so far is a tie between ISABELLA NAGG AND THE POT OF BASIL and GOTHEL AND THE MAIDEN PRINCE. I rated both three stars.

Most read genre so far?

Fantasy, to no one’s surprise! Right now 38.5% of my reads have been fantasy.

A book that surprised you?

The Hate U Give by Angie Thomas

Probably THE HATE U GIVE. I had a general idea of what it was about, but I didn’t expect it to be so good! Definitely recommend it to those who have yet to read it.

A Book that’s come out in 2025 already that you want to read but haven’t yet?

A Crown So Silver by Lyra Selene

I want to read A CROWN SO SILVER by Lyra Selene. I haven’t read it yet because I was waiting to order the special edition sequel from Fairyloot.

One goal you made that you’re succeeding at?

One goal I made this year is to purchase less books. So far I feel I’ve stuck to that pretty well. Most of my purchases fall in the book subscription category. I did stray a few times, but in most cases I bought them used, so I saved some money there.

One goal you made you need to focus on?

I also made a goal to read my Arthurian books. So far I haven’t picked up a single one.

New to you Booktubers/bookstagrammer/booktokers for 2025 you recommend?

Some book bloggers I started following this year include: Read You Leyre, The Reading Stray, and Dark Shelf of Wonders.

WWW Wednesday: April 16, 2025

I missed last week’s WWW Wednesday because I was on travel for work. (It’s also why I was a little MIA with respect to blog hopping.) It’s not easy to edit posts in the Jetpack app, much less draft one, so I decided to just forego the update. Anyway, I’m back and as a result you get to see two weeks’ worth of reading! 😀
