Well, I thought I wasn’t going to compile a list of my anticipated September 2026 book releases for several reasons. One, it takes hours to curate this type of list, especially if a month has a lot of releases to sift through. Two, my blog views tanked a lot, which really detracts from my motivation to spend hours on a post (loathe as I am to admit it). And three, I’ve just been busy and I’m behind on my reading and reviewing. But Chris pointed out that these lists are nice to look back at for yourself, and I completely agree. So, the compilation of this list was driven purely by self-serving motivation. 😛

Anyway, September is a busy month for book releases. I found 21 books that looked really interesting to me, some of which I preordered already. (And some I already have in hand because I created this list halfway through September!) This time I have a good mix of fantasy, nonfiction, and some magical realism. It looks like a good month!

It’s the beginning of another month, which means it’s time for my anticipated August 2026 book releases! (And if you missed last month’s, you can catch up here with my July 2026 book releases list.) I’ve been rather busy with travel, so I scrambled to get this posted during a reasonable time (i.e., early in the month)! I’m surprised at how many upcoming August 2026 book releases interested me. Nearly all of the ones I picked this month are fiction with the exception of one nonfiction book.

I have about half as many books in my July 2026 Book Releases list compared to months past, like June’s list. Sure, there are others that piqued my interested, but these select few are ones that really piqued my interest. It could be there’s also a bit of a lull in fantasy book releases that interest me…or I just haven’t looked hard enough. But I think there’s still a good mix in this July 2026 book releases selection below.

For my June 2026 book releases list I have 11 books to share. (If you missed my May 2026 book releases, you can scroll through those here.) Most of these upcoming releases are fantasy books, but there are a few literary fiction books sprinkled in there. I feel like I’m in a bit of a phase at the moment where I want something weird or less cliche, and I think some of these titles reflect that.

Out of all the June 2026 book releases, I’m most excited for Thomas D. Lee’s new Arthurian book. Technically, it only releases in the UK this month. But I hope the publisher shares a US publication date soon. Regardless, I plan on buying a copy from Blackwell’s because I love the cover art (shown below) and it will match my copy of Perilous Times by the same author. For my list of anticipated May 2026 book releases I have 10 books to share, just like my April 2026 book releases list. Once again, this list of May 2026 book releases focuses on speculative fiction. This shouldn’t come as a surprise since my long-time followers know I read mostly fantasy!
