New Blog Theme

You may have noticed (or maybe not) that I have a new blog design! When I started this space in March 2021 I chose a WordPress theme that, at the time, I liked. It had the basics of what I wanted, which was minimalist, one column with a side bar, and lots of white space. But I wasn’t in love with it. I always knew one day I would set aside some time and truly make my blog theme reflect me.

First Lines Fridays: July 8, 2022

First Lines Fridays is a weekly feature for book lovers hosted by Wandering Words. What if instead of judging a book by its cover, its author or its prestige, we judged it by its opening lines?  The rules are as follows:

  • Pick a book off your shelf (it could be your current read or on your TBR) and open to the first page
  • Copy the first few lines, but don’t give anything else about the book away just yet – you need to hook the reader first
  • Finally… reveal the book!

If you’re using Twitter, don’t forget to use #FirstLinesFridays!

Book Blogger Hop: July 1-7

The Book Blogger Hop was originally created by Jennifer @ Crazy-For-Books in March 2010 and ended on December 31, 2012. With Jennifer’s permission, Coffee Addicted Writer relaunched the hop on February 15, 2013. Each week the hop will start on a Friday and end the following Thursday. There will be a weekly prompt featuring a book related question. The hop’s purpose is to give bloggers a chance to follow other blogs, learn about new books, befriend other bloggers, and receive new followers to your own blog.

Mid-Year Freak Out Tag

I’ve seen this tag floating around a ton on book Twitter and other bloggers’ sites, so I thought I’d join in the fun! The original tag was created by ReadLikeWildfire and Earl Grey Books.

By the end of June I’d read 34 books. I set my goal for 52 this year, so it looks like I’m ahead of my pace of one book per week. I’ll take it since you never know what might randomly pop up in life. Without a doubt most of the books I’ve read so far fall within the fantasy genre. I haven’t read much nonfiction this year, but I have a few in my queue at the moment that I really want to read.

Anyway, let’s get on with the questions!
