End of the Year Book Tag 2025

The end of the year is nigh, so it’s time for the End of the Year Book Tag 2025 edition! This is my fourth time participating (2024, 20232022). I don’t know who created it, but it’s short and sweet. I put the prompts at the end for anyone to grab and paste into their own post. Anyone can feel free to tag themselves for this End of the Year Book Tag 2025.

Are there any books you started this year that you need to finish?

A Curse Carved in Bone by Danielle JensenThe Art of Libromancy by Josh CookThe Hidden Language of Cats by Sarah BrownDaughter of Black Lake by Cathy Marie Buchanan

Oh yes, I have a good handful of books I started this year that I need to finish. However, it is highly unlikely I’ll finish them before 2025 is over. These books shown above are the ones I can remember off the top of my head.

Do you have an autumnal book to transition into the end of the year?

Emily Wilde's Encyclopaedia of Faeries

Well, it’s past autumn now, but my answer is the same as always: I don’t really read seasonally. So there’s no particular book I read this year to transition to something wintery. If I had to pick one, then I pick EMILY WILDE’S ENCYCLOPAEDIA OF FAERIES. I didn’t pick it up intentionally as an autumn read, but I found it relatively cozy and perfect for that time of year.

Is there a new release you’re still waiting for?

The Once and Future Queen by Paula Lafferty

If I’d gotten my act together and posted this earlier I would’ve said THE ONCE AND FUTURE QUEEN by Paula Lafferty. But I already got my preorder in the mail and I’m not waiting for anything else this year!

What are three books you want to read before the end of the year?

The Adventures of Amina al-Sirafi by Shannon ChakrabortyJuniper's Christmas by Eoin Colfer

Well, since there are only a few days left in the year, I don’t think I’ll be able to read three more books before the end of the year! If I can finish THE ADVENTURES OF AMINA AL-SIRAFI, then I’ll be happy. I also want to finish JUNIPER’S CHRISTMAS by Eoin Colfer.

Is there a book you think that could still shock you and become your favorite book of the year?

Unfortunately, no, I don’t think so! I recently finished THE EVERLASTING, which I thought might become a new favorite. But even though I thought it was a solid read, it wasn’t a 5-star one for me. I still recommend it, though!

Have you already started making reading plans for 2026?

Ha, no, I haven’t started making reading plans yet for 2026. I do know that I want to get back to reading ARCs. I’m behind because I decided to spend the last quarter of this year prioritizing books I personally purchased. Oh, and continuing my TOG series read is, of course, something I want to do.

  1. I also have a bunch of books I’d love to finish (but won’t). And honestly, I’ll be happy if I finish one more book this year!
