WWW Wednesday: December 24, 2025

I missed last week because I just felt too busy to blog. That actually was ok because I don’t think I had much to report on anyway for WWW Wednesday! But this time I finished a few books, so I can participate this week. 🙂 Also, Merry Christmas (Eve) to all who celebrate!

WWW Wednesday was revived and hosted by Sam at Taking on a World of Words. The idea is to answer the three questions below and leave a link to your post in the comments for others to look at. No blog? No problem! Just leave a comment with your responses.

What are you currently reading?

What have you just finished reading?

What are you going to read next?

Currently Reading

I recently finished some books, so I’m not actively reading anything as of the time of drafting this post. (I do have a handful of books I started, but I more or less paused.) However, I might have started THE ADVENTURES OF AMINA AL-SIRAFI by the time this post goes live.

Just Finished

The Everlasting by Alix E. HarrowGet A Life, Chloe Brown by Talia HibbertSecrets of the Purple Pearl by Kate McKinnonThe Bakery Dragon by Devin Elle KurtzThe Bakery Dragon and the Fairy Cake by Devin Elle KurtzIf Cats Disappeared From the World by Genki Kawamura

THE EVERLASTING by Alix E. Harrow: I finally finished this a couple of days ago. It took me forever to read, mainly because I couldn’t find enough consecutive sit-down time to read a 300-page book! I enjoyed this one, but, to be perfectly honest, it was not a 5-star read for me. I know, I’m hard to impress, lol! This was a solid 4 stars for me. At some point I’ll sit down to write a full-length review for this one.

GET A LIFE, CHLOE BROWN by Talia Hibbert: What I said about this book two weeks ago still stands. Loved the snark in this one. I do think I’ll continue to pick up Hibbert’s backlist.

SECRETS OF THE PURPLE PEARL by Kate McKinnon: I so looked forward to this new release and it delivered! I think the first one is a little better, but this was still super fun. Just like the first book, I highly recommend reading this via audiobook.

THE BAKERY DRAGON by Devin Elle Kurtz: This was one of the two kids’ books I had left to read before I wrapped them up and gifted them to my nephews. The illustrations are so lovely.

THE BAKERY DRAGON AND THE FAIRY CAKE by Devin Elle Kurtz: I actually liked this one more than the first one because it had more of a storyline.

IF CATS DISAPPEARED FROM THE WORLD by Genki Kawamura: At last, I came across a translated-from-Japanese book that I liked more than average! I seem to not jive well with these types of books, but I felt like this one had some depth to it. Overall, it’s a reflection on human connection. “The international phenomenon that has sold more than two million copies, If Cats Disappeared from the World–now a Japanese film–is a heartwarming, funny, and profound meditation on the meaning of life.

The Adventures of Amina al-Sirafi by Shannon Chakraborty

Next I’ll probably pick up THE ADVENTURES OF AMINA AL-SIRAFI by Shannon Chakraborty. It’s been slow going for me this month, so if I can finish one more book this month, then go me!

  1. If Cats Disappeared from the World has a title that makes me want to read. I’m glad that you enjoyed it. I hope you enjoy The Adventures of Amina. I thought it was good and I did love Amina.
    Enjoy the holidays X

    1. I think you might like IF CATS DISAPPEARED FROM THE WORLD, especially because I think you feel similarly to me about books translated from Japanese? I liked that this one, in my opinion, had a little more substance.

      1. The title makes me want to read it and we’ve certainly had similar views on the books we’ve read previously so it’s definitely one that I’m looking out for

  2. Merry Christmas! The Everlasting wasn’t a five star read for me either, and I’m still partial to The Ten Thousand Doors of January, but it was really good.

    1. I stillll haven’t read THE TEN THOUSAND DOORS OF JANUARY. I bought it from Kobo a few years ago and I fear I’ve lost the file, lol! Library it is!

  3. I want to get my hands on a copy of The Bakery Dragon so badly! I’ve had my eye on it since I first heard about it at the end of last year. I could buy a digital copy but I think I want to savour the physical for the illustrations 🙂 Glad to hear you enjoyed them! Also YES Chloe Brown! Love Hibbert’s books so much. Happy Christmas, Celeste! 🎄

    1. It’s super cute! I hope the author comes out with another bakery dragon book. You’ll definitely want a physical copy of it so you can admire the beauty of the illustrations. 🙂

  4. The Dragon Bakery books seem adorable! *_*
I have If Cats Disappeared from the World on my TBR because I have read some interesting things in the reviews around the community, but I have to admit that this is a genre that usually work well for me so I would have added it on my TBR even without reading anything about it because of the genre and the title! Anyway, I am happy that it worked for you!

    1. It is 100% adorable!

If you like books translated from Japanese, then you’ll probably like IF CATS DISAPPEARED FROM THE WORLD. 🙂
