I’m in the mood for a book tag, so I looked through some of the ones I saved over the years. The To Be Read Book Tag, created by Tabitha at Behind the Pages, caught my eye. The rules are pretty simple: link back to Tabitha’s original post and tag as many bookish friends as you like! Tabitha also created the book tag image.
At the end of my answers is the list of prompts for you to use as well. I linked to each book on Bookshop.org. While I’m not an affiliate of theirs, each time you purchase from Bookshop.org it helps support an independent bookstore. If it’s not available on Bookshop.org, I linked to Barnes & Noble (also not an affiliate link).
Name the book that has been on your TBR the longest
This is a great question. I don’t actually know which book I’ve had on my TBR the longest. One of them is probably THE AMBER SPYGLASS by Philip Pullman. But I’m actually listening to this as an audiobook right now. So it won’t be on my TBR for that much longer!
Name the last book you added to your TBR
The last book I added to my Goodreads TBR is A DARK AND SECRET MAGIC by Wallis Kinney. The cover screams “perfect October read” to me. “A warm, spellbinding tale about a witch and the secrets her coven has been keeping from her, with echoes of the classic Hades and Persephone story, in the tradition of Practical Magic and Witch of Wild Things.“
Name a book with an animal in the story line
THE ALPHA FEMALE WOLF by Rick McIntyre is an animal book I’d love to get to. I’ve very slowly been making my way through McIntyre’s books about the Yellowstone wolves. If I’m remembering correctly, he used to work for the National Park Service with a focus on tracking the wolves there. Wolves are such interesting creatures and I always learn something new when I read these books. “Following five generations of female wolves–including the famous 06–this gripping family saga set in Yellowstone National Park reveals the pivotal role that female wolves play in pack life.“
Name a standalone novel
MASQUERADE by O.O. Sangoyomi looks so interesting. I’ve seen only one review for this book, which was a rave review. Given that it’s loosely based on the myth of Persephone, I’m surprised I didn’t see this one around the bookish sphere very often.
Name a book that’s not your usual read
I don’t typically read much general fiction, but DELPHINE JONES TAKES A CHANCE by Beth Morrey fits that bill. The cover art grabbed my attention and it kind of reminds me of ADELAIDE by Genevieve Wheeler. “A heartening and life-affirming novel about a single mother learning to make a bigger life, and the power of human connection to grow our worlds.“
Name a book from a series you’ve been meaning to read
I try to keep track of most of my ongoing series in my Series Completion Challenge (feel free to join it!). One book from a series I need to read is WAR QUEEN by Nicola Tyche. It’s the last book in a trilogy. I feel like this dark fantasy romance really flew under the radar. I think it has a little bit of a following on bookstagram, but it really needs more love. One thing I especially like about it is the political maneuvering. If you’re curious, here are my review for NORTH QUEEN (book one).

I hope that you enjoy The Amber Spyglass. For some reason, this one never struck a chord with me in the same way that the first two in the series did.
Before I saw my name tagged I thought this would be fun to do! Thanks Celeste, I’m looking forward to doing this soon.
I tagged you yesterday in a very similar book tag called The TBR Tag <3
I loved that trilogy but Philip Pullman but for some reason I do not remember much from The Amber Spyglass. I've been meaning to reread them but I am scared of doing so.
I loved the Northern Lights books by Philip Pullman and really want to reread them sometime before checking out the new books within the world. I hope you enjoy The Amber Spyglass. I love the variety of books that you’ve included here I hadn’t heard of a few although Masquerade is also on my TBR. The cover initially caught my eye but the premise & setting also really intrigued me.
