How to Become the Dark Lord and Die Trying by Django Wexler

Published on July 15, 2024November 27, 2024 by Celeste7 Comments

Today’s review is about HOW TO BECOME THE DARK LORD AND DIE TRYING by Django Wexler. It’s the first book in the Dark Lord Davi duology. Davi is in a never-ending time loop. Each time she dies trying to do the right thing she has to do it all over again from the beginning. Sick of failing, she decides in her next life to become the Dark Lord. This, of course, requires minions and a trial to prove her worthiness.

ARC Review: The Nightingale’s Castle by Sonia Velton

Published on July 11, 2024July 4, 2024 by Celeste5 Comments

Today’s review is about THE NIGHTINGALE’S CASTLE by Sonia Velton. It’s a historical fiction reimagining, with some magical realism, of the infamous 16th century Hungarian “Blood Countess.” She allegedly killed hundreds of peasant girls. This is her story, told primarily through the perspective of one such young peasant girl.

WWW Wednesday: July 10, 2024

I don’t really plan on making habitual WWW Wednesday posts again. But it is a good way to recap some books, especially when I don’t plan on writing lengthy reviews for some of them. That’s how I approached my last WWW Wednesday and how I plan to do today’s.

WWW Wednesday was revived and hosted by Sam at Taking on a World of Words. The idea is to answer the three questions below and leave a link to your post in the comments for others to look at. No blog? No problem! Just leave a comment with your responses.

What are you currently reading?

What have you just finished reading?

What are you going to read next?

Sundays In Bed With…How to Become the Dark Lord and Die Trying

Published on July 7, 2024July 6, 2024 by Celeste7 Comments

Before I jump into Sundays In Bed With…, I have a quick update to say I’m on the mend from my planned, short procedure. I’ve never had any sort of surgery before, so it’s wild to now know how quickly the anesthesia knocks you out! I still am not 100% myself physically and won’t be for around another one to two weeks. But yesterday I finally started to feel like I was more on the mend after being prodded last Wednesday. So, that’s why I haven’t had much of a present on social media or the blogosphere lately. I’ve been lurking, but hadn’t much felt like interacting. I’m back, more or less! But please excuse me if I continue to have a delay in responding to or returning comments or emails. 🙂

Anyway, on to the Sundays in Bed With… meme. It’s hosted by Midnight Book Girl, dares to ask what book has been in your bed this morning. Come share what book you’ve spent time curled up reading in bed, or which book you wish you had time to read today!
