Nonfiction November Mind Opening Books

It’s time for another Nonfiction November post! This week Rebekah is the host and the prompt is mind openers. So below is a list of Nonfiction November mind opening books that I think everyone should read.

Week 4 (11/18-11/22) Mind Openers: One of the greatest things about reading nonfiction is the way it can open your eyes to the world around you–no plane ticket required. What nonfiction book or books have impacted the way you see the world in a powerful way? Is there one book that made you rethink everything? Is there a book that, if everyone read it, you think the world would be a better place?

Nonfiction November Book Pairings

Here I am forgetting and re-remembering that this month is also Nonfiction November! In my first post to celebrate this genre I talked about my past year reading nonfiction. This week Liz is the host and the prompt is book pairings. So, obviously I’m here to discuss nonfiction and fiction book pairings.

Week 3 (11/11-11/15) Book Pairings: This week, pair up a nonfiction book with a fiction title. Maybe it’s a historical novel and the real history in a nonfiction version, or a memoir and a novel, or a fiction book you’ve read and you would like recommendations for background reading. Or (because I’m doing this) two books on two different areas have chimed and have a link. You can be as creative as you like!

I have four book pairing categories to share: ballet, reproductive rights, cats, and World War II!

Year in Nonfiction

I didn’t realize Nonfiction November was going on until late last week, thanks to Carol! While my primary focus is SciFi Month, I figured I can still join in at random. As it happens the first week’s prompt works well for my available time. Hosted by Heather, week one looks at your year in nonfiction.

Week 1 (10/28-11/1) Your Year in Nonfiction: Celebrate your year of nonfiction. What books have you read? What were your favorites? Have you had a favorite topic? Is there a topic you want to read about more?  What are you hoping to get out of participating in Nonfiction November?

With that, let me share about my year in nonfiction.

Nonfiction November Week 2: Book Pairing

First, thanks to Sahi at My World of Books to alerting me to yet another bookish event occurring during November. I saw her response to the Nonfiction November second week prompt pop up Twitter and thought I’d give it a go. Consider me on the fringes of several of the events ongoing this month–Nonfiction November, NetGalley November, and SciFi Month.

So what is Nonfiction November? It’s a month long (approximately) event that runs from October 31 to December 2 during which we celebrate nonfiction reads. There are five hosts: Katie at Doing Dewey, Rennie at What’s Nonfiction, Jaymi at The OC Bookgirl, Christopher at Plucked from the Stacks, and Rebekah at She Seeks Nonfiction. Social media hashtags to use are #NonficNov and #NonfictionBookParty.

Now, let’s get to the prompt.
