WWW Wednesday: October 28, 2026

WWW Wednesday was revived and hosted by Sam at Taking on a World of Words. The idea is to answer the three questions below and leave a link to your post in the comments for others to look at. No blog? No problem! Just leave a comment with your responses.

What are you currently reading?

What have you just finished reading?

What are you going to read next?

Currently Reading

Kingdom of Ash by Sarah J. MaasA Voice Like Mine by Deb Haaland

KINGDOM OF ASH by Sarah J. Maas: I’m deep into my first-time reading of KoA (no spoilers, please), the last book in the Throne of Glass series. Hopefully by the time this post goes live I’ll have reached the 50% mark of nearly 1,000 pages of story time. I’ve already cried once and almost cried again a couple nights ago. I can definitely see why many call TOG their favorite of SJM’s series.

A VOICE LIKE MINE by Deb Haaland: I started reading this memoir via audiobook a few days ago. The author is the former Secretary of the Department of the Interior during the Biden administration. Even though it’s relatively short, it spans from Haaland’s childhood to her time as Secretary. She narrates the audiobook, too. I also checked out the physical copy so I could look at the photos in the book. I’m not too far in (17%), but so far I’m liking it. It’s so nice to hear from an even-keeled person in a (former) presidential administration.

Just Finished

Before the Coffee Gets Cold by Toshikazu Kawaguchi

BEFORE THE COFFEE GETS COLD by Toshikazu Kawaguchi: This book was fine. I thought the last vignette was the best out of all of them. I really should just stop trying to like these cozy stories translated from the Japanese, but I haven’t learned my lesson yet. There’s probably something lost in translation and that’s ok. Thank goodness for the library because I’m glad I didn’t spend my own money on it. I won’t be continuing this series.

Reading Next

A Court of Splintered Harmony by Sarah J. Maas

Obviously my next book will be A COURT OF SPLINTERED HARMONY! It will probably be a week before I get to it since KINGDOM OF ASH is so long and I work a fulltime job and have other activities outside of work. So be a dear AND DON’T SPOIL IT FOR EVERYONE IF YOU’VE ALREADY READ IT. (I personally don’t even want to read people’s general reaction to the book until I read it myself. So I’ll ignore anything I see on the blogosphere about it for the time being.)

  1. Glad that you’ve mostly enjoyed your recent books. I gave up on Japanese books that were all linked stories. They just didn’t work for me. I’ve heard good things about some of their mystery/crime novels though so might try one at some point. As you say, thank goodness for libraries😀
Hope you continue to love K of A. It’s certainly an epic read!
