THE WOMEN OF TROY by Pat Barker: I made some decent progress on this in the last week, but even at 2x speed I’m not done yet with the audiobook. It’s pretty easy to follow along, so I listen to it when I’m cooking or slowly doing my puzzle.

MONARCHS OF THE SEA by Danna Staaf: I’m over halfway (not counting the references at the end) now with this nonfiction book about cephalopods. It’s a good book, but I’m kind of ready to be done with it. But I’m determined to finish it before I start another book.

Just Finished

KILLING GRAVITY by Corey J. White: I finished this in a couple of sitting over the last week. It’s the first in a series and I won’t be continuing. I felt just thrown into the action. And it’s kind of violent? I didn’t hate it, but I didn’t love it. “Mars Xi can kill you with her mind, but she’ll need more than psychic powers to save her in Killing Gravity, the thrilling science fiction space adventure debut by Corey J. White.“

EVERYTHING WAS BEAUTIFUL AND NOTHING HURT by Ben Reeves: This was another ok read. I can see why a lot of folks gave this 4 stars or above on Goodreads. But I didn’t connect as much with it emotionally as I hoped to. My review for it goes up on Monday. I also don’t know why there’s a cat on the cover…it makes an appearance for one page at most, all put together. “For fans of Fredrik Backman and Virginia Evans, an astonishing novel about finding beauty in the brevity of life, as narrated by the one who knows it best: Death.“

Reading Next

As I said last week, the next book(s) I pick up will be KINGDOM OF ASH or TAKE MY WORD FOR IT. I’ve kind of been leaning a little more toward nonfiction books lately, or more serious/emotional fiction books.
