My last WWW Wednesday was three weeks ago, mainly because I was busy writing various wrap-up and list posts. So, I won’t regale everyone with everything I finished since then. I’ll stick to what I’ve been up to for the past week. 🙂 I’m also kind of swamped with real life at the moment, so I’m behind on returning comments. Please bear with me until I have some free time! <3
WWW Wednesday was revived and hosted by Sam at Taking on a World of Words. The idea is to answer the three questions below and leave a link to your post in the comments for others to look at. No blog? No problem! Just leave a comment with your responses.

THE AUDACITY OF HOPE by Barack Obama: I’ve had this on my bookshelf for literally years. I just couldn’t bring myself to read anything overtly political after 45’s presidency. However, I’m determined to make more of a dent on my physical TBR. So, as I do, I borrowed it as an audiobook to listen to while painting my house. How I missed this man’s voice and logic! I’m not too far into it, but I’ve already found myself nodding and agreeing with his observations.
GIVE ME BUTTERFLIES by Jillian Meadows: As I mentioned in my January TBR, this is a January ARC. I’m about 25% through. It’s a STEMinist romance about a grumpy astronomer and sunny entomologist. So far it’s more cutesy than I anticipated and I haven’t decided yet how I feel about that. There’s not a ton of science, which I was hoping for. I still plan on finishing it, but with adjusted expectations.
Recently Finished
NOT IN LOVE by Ali Hazelwood: With the exception of Hazelwood’s short story collection, I’m finally all caught up with her novels. I think this is my favorite of her adult romances. The male love interest wasn’t a cookie cutter character like in her other three STEMinist books. Finally, someone who isn’t intimidating or brooding! There is a lot more spice in this one, which Hazelwood addresses/explains in her content warning explanation. There is less STEM focus on this one, which is probably my main gripe.
EAGLES FALL by L.R. Schulz: I took a break reading anything I had to judge or formally review while working through the immediate aftermath of my wisdom tooth surgery. But I finally finished another SFINCS novella! Although the characters are adults, the novella listing indicates it is a YA read. It involves dragonriders and a growing distrust between them and their allies, the Mystics.
FROM THE DEPTHS by B.S.H. Garcia: This is another SFINCS novella assignment for my team. The main characters are two children of pirates. And they go off on a risky adventure to find a long lost scroll for the emperor.

GOTHEL AND THE MAIDEN PRINCE by W.R. Gingell: This is another novella I need to read for the SFINCS competition. It seems the most like the type of fantasy I prefer to read, so I hope I enjoy it!
Seems like the perfect time to read Barack Obama’s book, a reminder that there are kind, level headed people who sometimes get to run the country.
It is indeed the perfect time to read Obama’s book. I’m still working on it and listened to a little more today.
Gothel and the Maiden Prince? Omg, I didn’t know this book existed but it has certainly piqued my interest. Also because that cover is stunning! 😍 Take your time with engaging because we’ve all certainly been there when life decides to life hard. 🤣 Hope you’re doing okay and have a great week ahead!
Yessss this Gothel novella looks so good! That’s next on my docket. And thanks for understanding about the engagement. It’s been a bit challenging for me during December and now January to stay on top of commenting and replying!
I have his books on audio, I think this year (and this weekend in particular) I’ll go back and re-listen.
I also have the Ali Hazlewood on my shelf to read so this is a good prompt for my evening’s reading later today 😁
I’m so glad I chose to listen to it on audio. It’s soothing in a way haha. I just got to the part where he talks about religion and how right he was about how important it is not to alienate those who believe. I was like >.<, look where we are now.
I hope you like Hazelwood's latest! It was a breath of fresh air that the lead male character wasn't a Kylo Ren cookie cutter character haha.
I admit I wanted a bit more science (specifically the astronomy, since that’s what I studied) from GIVE ME BUTTERFLIES as well haha. I still enjoyed it as a cute read though! But yeah as you said, some adjusted expectations there
I just finished it and I still wish there was more science!! It was a cute read, but there were a few reasons I ended up rating it a little lower than I thought I would.
I am so behind on Ali Hazelwood!! Congrats on catching up. Happy reading!
Haha times to catch up with Hazelwood! 😉 Just kidding…you do you.
hahahaha! No, I really do!!
I hope you’re well and completely understand feeling swamped. I’m trying to get caught up blog wise and barely reading as a result 😭 I’ve got a few things I really need to get done but then I’m limiting myself to an hour or two a day blogging wise to try and get the balance better. I really miss my reading time after all.
I’m glad you’re enjoying the non fiction choice, it’s a shame that the romance isn’t going as expected though. Hopefully the rest of it will be better 🤞
It sounds like you left the best Ali Hazelwood romance until last. It’s wonderful being caught up with an author too. Although the wait for new books can feel frustrating when they’re a favourite of yours. I’m glad the novellas are going well too and I hope the upcoming one is what you’re expecting. I hope you have a lovely week and that you’re feeling okay after your wisdom tooth surgery.
I’m also trying to catch up blog-wise, hence all the replies in a short amount of time haha. I’m also trying to get ahead and schedule a bunch of things so I won’t have to think about it for the next few weeks.
Soon I won’t be all caught up with Hazelwood…she’s got a sports romance coming out soon! I don’t really read those, but I’m game to try hers.
Ah lol makes sense. I get the impression that its a pretty busy time of year for most people. Good luck getting it done 🥰 I’m sure you can get it all sorted.
Ooh well I hope it goes well then 🤞 maybe it’ll be such a hit that you’ll want to check out more of the genre.
