Book Blogger Hop: July 21-27

The Book Blogger Hop was originally created by Jennifer @ Crazy-For-Books in March 2010 and ended on December 31, 2012. With Jenniferā€™s permission, Coffee Addicted Writer relaunched the hop on February 15, 2013. Each week the hop will start on a Friday and end the following Thursday. There will be a weekly prompt featuring a book related question. The hopā€™s purpose is to give bloggers a chance to follow other blogs, learn about new books, befriend other bloggers, and receive new followers to your own blog.

This Weekā€™s Question

Which plot twist is your favorite?Ā (Billy @Ā Coffee Addicted Writer)

This is a tough question as it’s not something I’ve thought about before. When it comes to plot twists, my main requirement is that they’re not easy to predict. I have a critical mind that puzzles over things, so I often have an idea of what will happen. If an author can catch me unawares, then I am forever a fan.

That said, one plot twist that comes to mind that always makes me gasp is betrayal. Sometimes I’ll get a feeling about a character where my spidery sense tells me there’s something off about them. But I’ll try to ignore it. And then, bam, betrayal. I’d list a couple of books with that plot twist, but then you’d be spoiled.

  1. I also am a close reader who isn’t often surprised by twists, but for me predictability isn’t always a bad thing! The twists also have to make sense and I enjoy seeing the breadcrumbs after the fact. It is REALLY satisfying to have pieced together a well plotted twist.

    1. I’m glad you don’t mind predictability. I agree it’s cool to see the breadcrumbs after the fact. For me, though, if something is easily predictable, it lessens the enjoyment for me a smidge.
