The Book Blogger Hop was originally created by Jennifer @ Crazy-For-Books in March 2010 and ended on December 31, 2012. With Jennifer’s permission, Coffee Addicted Writer relaunched the hop on February 15, 2013. Each week the hop will start on a Friday and end the following Thursday. There will be a weekly prompt featuring a book related question. The hop’s purpose is to give bloggers a chance to follow other blogs, learn about new books, befriend other bloggers, and receive new followers to your own blog.

This Week’s Question
What is the significance of your blog header? (Elizabeth @ Silver’s Reviews)
In a nutshell, my blog header is the name of my blog and an image that I feel supports my blog’s vibe, which is that I read a lot of fantasy. It took me a while to actually find something I really liked, so it was very simplistic for a long time. But I learned from a couple of book bloggers that Canva is a great resource for constructing graphics like blog headers. (Thanks Jordyn and Chris!) And they have tons of different images that will suit everyone’s interests.
My blog name in the header is “A Literary Escape.” I chose this name (with help from Carolin) because I didn’t want to commit to a genre-specific name in case my interests changed over time. I wanted to imply that this space is a reading haven and a place of wonder. The tagline is “A [mostly] fantasy book review blog.” I think that’s self-explanatory. I read and review mostly fantasy with the occasional delve into other genres.
The image in my blog header is of a blonde, female, fae-like character. I chose this because fae are a huge character trope in the fantasy community, and I like to read about them. And I have blonde hair. Moreover, the green in the image is the main color I wanted to use in my blog layout.
And there you have it.
I love the colours and images on your blog posts. I’ve started to explore canva a bit more lately but really need to spend a lot more time trying out what I can do with it.
Thanks, Janette! I’ve loved green for a long time now. It only seemed natural to make it a primary color on my blog. Have fun exploring Canva! I love that I can even pause my payment for a few months–it’s awesome they have that setting.
The significance on my blog header is I’m too lazy to have one and feel that maybe I should now. Your blog, incidentally, is very nicely put together…
Ha, and your approach is totally ok, too! Thank you, Peat. 🙂
I absolutely love your blog header! It stands out among so many others and it’s really reflective of your blog, I think 🙂
Thank you so much!! <3
