In an effort to support and promote book bloggers further in 2022, Pages Unbound is hosting a (very casual) Support Book Bloggers Challenge. The idea is simple: we will work together to read blog posts, share them, comment on them, and boost book bloggers in other ways. To learn more about the challenge and the 12 prompts involved, visit the original post here. (The above banner was created by Pages Unbound.) If you decide to join in on the fun, the social media hashtag to use is #BookBloggerSupport22.
The prompt for September is to write a guest post for a blog or feature a guest post on your own blog. Earlier this month I encouraged bloggers to reach out if they wanted to be featured on my blog. Thankfully my outreach didn’t fall into the internet void! All guest posts are presented as given to me; I have not edited any of the content save for the formatting.
For my second featured guest post, please meet Dusty at Eye-Rolling Demigod! Keep reading to learn more about this fellow book blogger!
Meet the Book Blogger
What is your name (and pronouns, e.g., she/her), in what country are you based (if you feel comfortable sharing), and where can we find your blog? List any other social media you may have, if you like.
Hi all! My name is Dusty, and my pronouns are she/her. I’m based in the US, and you can find my blog at Eye-Rolling Demigod. You can also find me on Instagram at @eyerollingdemigod, and on Twitter at @eyerolldemigod.
What genres do you typically read and/or avoid?
I’m a big fan of fantasy, science fiction, and romance. Those three genres put together make up over three-fourths of what I read. I do dip my toe in other genres when a book sounds particularly interesting, but horror is one genre I rarely feel inclined to read (especially when it’s only horror, and not mixed with another genre).
What are some of your favorite books to recommend to others?
I couldn’t pick just one book, so I’ll share some of my favorite series! My favorite books to recommend to others are The SPI Files by Lisa Shearin, any book by Rick Riordan or from the Rick Riordan Presents Imprint, and the Circle of Magic series by Tamora Pierce.
What inspired you to start your book blog?
I was inspired to start my own book blog after seeing some bookstagram posts come across my feed on Instagram. That was the gateway to introduce me to book blogging, and I eventually decided I wanted to start my own blog. There are certainly some nice benefits to book blogging (like early access to books on my TBR), but the main benefit for me is getting to help promote the books I love. It’s such a rewarding experience when someone lets you know that they read a book because of your recommendation and that they loved it.
Who are some of your favorite book bloggers?
Some of my favorite book bloggers are Francesca at Under the Covers Book Blog, Shealea at Shut Up Shealea, Kal at Reader Voracious, and Jen at Books Jen Recs.
What are some other hobbies you have in addition to reading?
Some of my other hobbies in addition to reading include playing video games (I’m a die-hard Pokemon fan), watching TV (I love binging a good new show), and falling down the rabbit hole of educational YouTube videos.
A free space to mention anything else you’d like the book blogging community to know about you.
I’m always on the lookout for new books and new bookish friends! Feel free to reach out to me on social media and say hi. I work hard to make sure my blog and social media pages are a safe space for all 🙂
Thank you, Dusty, for participating in this month’s Support Book Bloggers Challenge! Please feel free, of course, to check out her blog and social media handles.
