The Book Blogger Hop was originally created by Jennifer @ Crazy-For-Books in March 2010 and ended on December 31, 2012. With Jennifer’s permission, Coffee Addicted Writer relaunched the hop on February 15, 2013. Each week the hop will start on a Friday and end the following Thursday. There will be a weekly prompt featuring a book related question. The hop’s purpose is to give bloggers a chance to follow other blogs, learn about new books, befriend other bloggers, and receive new followers to your own blog.

This Week’s Question
What is your reading preference – fiction or nonfiction? (Billy @ Coffee Addicted Writer)
These days I overwhelmingly choose to read fiction over nonfiction. When I picked up reading again in 2020, I read more nonfiction than I do currently. However, I noticed a marked drop off in my desire to read nonfiction. I still do, but occasionally. More time passes between each nonfiction read of mine than did a year or more ago.
I suppose I could attribute this change to what I feel is a constant onslaught of negative news. It really makes the old adage “no news is good news” hit more true. I checked out a bunch of nonfiction books in May, but only ended up reading one. I just wasn’t in the mood to read about real life. For me, at this season of my life, fiction offers a safe escape during which I can mentally recharge. Fiction, in particular fantasy fiction, opens a seemingly infinite amount of possible worlds in which to lose myself.
I have a feeling most of my followers probably predominately read fiction, but prove me wrong in the comments!
