May has been a whirlwind of activity for me. I joined Wyrd and Wonder for the first time, which is a celebration of all things fantasy. There were daily prompts that I aspired to participate in, which resulted in quite a lot of blog posts this month. I posted way more than I usually do and, to be honest, even though it was fun I am looking forward to slowing my roll.
Nearly everything I posted in May was for Wyrd and Wonder. This wrap-up is essentially also a Wyrd and Wonder recap. So, if you missed anything amidst my posting blitz this month, here’s a roundup of everything.
Book Reviews
I posted five book reviews in May. From earliest to latest, here are my recent book reviews.
- To Bleed A Crystal Bloom by Sarah A. Parker
- These Hollow Vows By Lexi Ryan
- The Stardust Thief By Chelsea Abdullah
- The North Wind By Alexandria Warwick
- In Deeper Waters By F.T. Lukens
Wyrd and Wonder
In addition to the fantasy book reviews, I also participated in a lot of the prompts for Wyrd and Wonder. Here’s a list in order from earliest to latest.
- Wyrd And Wonder 2022 Introduction
- Top 5 Fantasies Since Last Wyrd And Wonder
- Wyrd And Wonder: Woodland Creatures
- Wyrd And Wonder: Celebrating Mythic Books
- Which Fantasy Character Would You Swap Lives With?
- Top 5 Books Featuring Wyrd And Wonder Mascots
- Fantasy Landscapes
- The Dark Side Of Fantasy
- To Love Or To Loathe…There’s The Trope
- Wyrd And Wonderful Book Discoveries
I also did pretty well on the bingo board even though I veered from fantasy a bit in May and read a couple of nonfiction books.
I fulfilled the above bingo prompts with the following books:
- The Hobbit by J.R.R. Tolkien (audiobook): enchanted wood, award nominee, say it in verse, epic, don’t leave the path, reread, dragon
- In Deeper Waters by F.T. Lukens: shape shifters
- The Girl Who Fell Beneath the Sea by Axie Oh: portal fantasy, mythic
- Gild by Raven Kennedy: (grim) dark
Statistics
I am still blown away at how much I posted in May: 5 book reviews, 10 Wyrd and Wonder prompt responses, and 5 miscellaneous posts (see below in “Other Bookish Progress”). This absolutely is not the norm for me. June I’ll return to my regularly scheduled posts of one review per week plus a couple of memes if I’m up to it.
As a result of all of this blog activity this month I hit some new personal bests for visitors and total views. I also increased by blog following by 14 followers, which I’m super excited about. Thank you to my new followers for helping me reach my 2022 goal of 100 followers! I now need 22 more followers to reach that 100 mark.
In May my top 5 posts were:
- Wyrd and Wonder 2022 Introduction
- Book Review: These Hollow Vows by Lexi Ryan
- Book Review: The Stardust Thief by Chelsea Abdullah
- 2022 Support Book Bloggers Challenge: May Check-In
- Book Review: To Bleed A Crystal Bloom by Sarah A. Parker
#BeatTheBacklog
Lisa at Owl Be Sat Reading started the hashtag #BeatTheBacklog to rally those who want to make a dent in their TBR list. I finished eight books in May, three of which were on my TBR prior to 2022: TELL ME AN ENDING by Jo Harkin; THE GIRL WHO FELL BENEATH THE SEA by Axie Oh; and GILD by Raven Kennedy.
Other Bookish Progress
In addition to all of the Wyrd and Wonder activity, I posted an April wrap-up.
I also recapped what I read for Mythothon Round 6 and shared a book haul from my library’s last book sale.
And I announced that I’m a panelist for the latest round of the Book Bloggers’ Novel of the Year Award (BBNYA).
Finally, I shared 10 bloggers’ posts to social media for the latest round of the Support Book Bloggers Challenge.
