SFINCS Review: Roxy Buckles and the Flight of the Sparrow

Today’s review is about ROXY BUCKLES AND THE FLIGHT OF THE SPARROW. It’s a light sci-fi novella in which Roxy the bounty hunter receives a job to bring a bomber to justice. There are snarky women; humanoid, non-binary feline aliens; and sex-crazed Witchlings that love kidnapping men for a snack.

SFINCS logoThis review is brought to you by my participation in the Speculative Fiction Indie Novella Championship (SFINCS). SFINCS, pronounced “sphinx”, is a yearly competition to recognize, honor, and celebrate the talent and creativity present in the indie community. It’s a sister competition to both SPFBO and SPSFC, and it highlights greatness in the novella format in all areas of speculative fiction (fantasy, science fiction, horror, etc.). A-Z Book Tag

Chris at Biblio Nerd Reflections tagged me to do this way back in April. Like him, I also found this A-Z Book Tag a bit daunting, so it sat in my drafts for a while. But I have the day off and I’m resting my brain after finishing HOUSE OF EARTH AND BLOOD, so I figured today is the day to do it.

November 2023 TBR List

Since I fell behind with my October ARCs, I decided to fit them into my November 2023 TBR List when I can. My November ARC list is manageable, so I might be able to squeeze in an October ARC. But I also need to read more SFINCS novellas and, ideally, a book or two “for fun.” November is also SciFi Month and hopefully I can overlap some of my ARC and novella reads with that. So here’s what I decided for my November 2023 TBR List.
