I finally started watching the latest season of Bridgerton and have to admit that Benedict’s and Sophie’s dynamic gives me the ick. I’m halfway through and plan to finish it, but this season isn’t my favorite. However, I do like Francesca’s and John’s growth as well as Violet allowing herself to live again. But y’all didn’t come here for Bridgerton content, so it’s time for WWW Wednesday!

YESTERYEAR by Caro Claire Burke: I didn’t intend to read YESTERYEAR this month. But my aunt sent it to me in the mail, so I thought I’d read it so I could talk to her about it when I see her in a couple weeks. My initial thought is that it’s better written than I expected it to be. I feel like even though I’m 130 pages in there’s already been a lot of snarky commentary about gender roles and other hot topics. I don’t know where this is going, though. There’s apparently a shock factor at the end, so I can’t wait to see what that’s all about (no spoilers please!).

TOWER OF DAWN by Sarah J. Maas: This is on the backburner at the moment. I want to read it, but I’m procrastinating because it’s something I have to do before the next ACOTAR book comes out. In other words, I hate feeling pressured to read something. Don’t get me wrong, I’m still enjoying the series. But my mood reading rears its head when there’s obligated reading sitting around.

Just Finished

THE GIVER by Lois Lowry: This isn’t my first time reading THE GIVER. I initially read it in middle school, I think. It was definitely interesting to read it again as an adult and pick up on things that didn’t seem quite right. I wish I could remember what I thought about it when I was a tween. The audiobook felt a little dated with the dramatic music at the beginning of a lot of the chapters. But it is what it is!

WE BURNED SO BRIGHT by T.J. Klune: My library hold for this finally came in. I actually forgot to suspend my hold, so I wasn’t expecting it to show up, but I’m glad it did. The premise is sad, but I still really liked this one a lot. If you missed my review, you can read it here.

OTHER WORDS FOR HOME by Jasmine Warga: This is is a middle grade novel in verse about a girl who moves from Syria with her mother to the U.S. She leaves behind her brother, who joined the protesters to protest against their government, and her father. I read this as an audiobook and couldn’t tell it was written in verse; it sounded just like reading a regular story.

Maybe after I finish YESTERYEAR and TOWER OF DAWN I’ll finally pick up THORN SEASON by Kiera Azar. The publisher sent me a finished copy sometime during the last quarter of 2025. I feel bad for taking so long to get to it!
