The Book Blogger Hop was originally created by Jennifer @ Crazy-For-Books in March 2010 and ended on December 31, 2012. With Jennifer’s permission, Coffee Addicted Writer relaunched the hop on February 15, 2013. Each week the hop will start on a Friday and end the following Thursday. There will be a weekly prompt featuring a book related question. The hop’s purpose is to give bloggers a chance to follow other blogs, learn about new books, befriend other bloggers, and receive new followers to your own blog.

This Week’s Question
How often do you enter Goodreads’ Giveaways? And how many have you won over the years? (Elizabeth @ Silver’s Review)
I don’t enter Goodreads’ Giveaways all that often anymore. When I was a newer blogger and didn’t have a large book collection, it was fun to enter GR giveaways in the hopes I’d win something to add to my shelves. I’m also fortunate enough to be able to request ARCs of upcoming releases I’m interested in. So there are times I’ve already read the book that’s in a giveaway. Additionally, I have so many books now that I just don’t feel like entering GR giveaways that often, even if the chance is slim I’ll win.
Out of all the times I’ve entered I’ve won twice, I think. One was an ARC of THE SEVEN YEAR SLIP by Ashley Poston. I can’t remember what the other one was. I do remember being surprised that the Poston book was an ARC. Either I missed that bit of information when I entered the giveaway or it wasn’t specified. Frankly, I’d rather win a finished copy of a physical or e-book format, considering winning a book doesn’t obligate the entrant to write a review. Maybe this sounds ungrateful of me, but I’m not all that motivated to win an unfinished version of something. I said what I said.
What about you? Do you enter Goodreads’ Giveaways and have you ever won a book?

I still enter GR giveaways but only for books that I know I won’t be offered for review. So it’s almost always publishers I don’t work with. I’ve probably won a handful of times, and just recently won one, but it’s pretty rare!
That’s another good point—I do the same…if I enter a GR giveaway it’s for books that I likely won’t have an ARC for. Which book did you win most recently?
I have never won a GR giveaway but I have won two StoryGraph giveaways!
I just entered a few StoryGraph giveaways a few days ago, for the first time. We’ll see what happens!
I don’t enter that much more either. Partially I am annoyed it auto adds the book to your TBR page lol. Like, yes, I want to read the book enough that I entered the giveaway, but I try to use my TBR for stuff I am REALLY interested in, not stuff I might try if I got the chance. I have won maybe two times, but that was years ago.
Oh yes, I forgot that it auto adds books to your TBR! I also find that annoying because most of the time the giveaways about which I’m notified are for books already on my GR TBR; then I end up with the same book in my TBR multiple times!
Great post! I do still enter GR giveaways, although I’m less likely to enter one if I know it’s for an ARC rather than a finished copy. I agree with the comment above about the annoying part — how it automatically adds the book to your TBR shelf, because often it’ll be for a book already there, and then I end up with duplicates!
Glad to know I’m not the only one who feels this way about giveaway ARCs. And you’d think Amazon would have the coding skill to not doubly add a book when entering a giveaway. 🙄
