Brittle by Beth Overmyer
Today I’m reading an ARC of BRITTLE by Beth Overmyer. The cover 100% caught my eye on NetGalley followed closely by the synopsis. Because me and books about the fae are a thing. At the time of writing this post, I’m about 10% through. I’m a bit on the fence about what to think about it so far. I recognize 10% isn’t that far into a book. But the writing style, in my opinion, needs some refinement. There are section with lots of dialogue and little description. And there are also sections with blocks of description that do too much telling. That is, the pacing of the writing style isn’t precisely my cup of tea. But I’m willing to keep reading since it’s a relatively short book. Hopefully my opinion will change as the story progresses!

After the murder of her father – which no one but her believes happened – Verve just wants to hold her family together and take on the role of provider. Unfortunately, a cruel fae lord believes she knows the location of an ancient magical weapon and steals her away to Letorheas, realm of the fairies. The fae lord seems to want something from Verve that goes beyond the weapon, something that many doubt she can provide. Verve must find a way to navigate the strangeness of Letorheas and embrace a destiny more intertwined with the fae than she would like to believe.
