The Book Blogger Hop was originally created by Jennifer @ Crazy-For-Books in March 2010 and ended on December 31, 2012. With Jennifer’s permission, Coffee Addicted Writer relaunched the hop on February 15, 2013. Each week the hop will start on a Friday and end the following Thursday. There will be a weekly prompt featuring a book related question. The hop’s purpose is to give bloggers a chance to follow other blogs, learn about new books, befriend other bloggers, and receive new followers to your own blog.

This Week’s Question
What is your go-to website to check out book reviews? (Elizabeth @ Silver’s Reviews)
Given that I’m a hobbyist book blogger involved in the book review community, there’s no specific “go-to” website I use for book reviews. I frequent many different book blogger websites and try to spread the love and appreciation where I can. If you follow me on Twitter, you’ll see whose posts I retweet, which will give you an idea of whose blogs I bounce around to. Where I read my reviews depends on whether we’v read the same thing as I prefer not to read reviews before I read the actual book.
That said, here are a few bloggers whose sites I visit for reviews, though this isn’t an extensive list. (Read: please don’t hate me if I didn’t include you here. I still appreciate you and I just don’t have the time to list dozens of bloggers here!)
I’m always looking for new book bloggers to follow, since I feel like my list is… way too short. I’m glad you shared this so I can do some blog hopping of my own!
Glad you found some new-to-you book bloggers! 🙂
This is an interesting question in the sense I would love to see anyone if says anything besides “other blogs” and “Goodreads.” My guess is they would be the most popular!
That’s a good point…you’ve made me realize that I didn’t even think about GR when I answered this question. But I do use them, specifically when I’m in a bookstore & need a quick, consolidated take on a book to help me decide whether I want to buy it.
I don’t typically read reviews before the book anymore! There are times that I get spoiled and I just feel it’s safer not to. Plus, I think going in mostly blind has really added to my reading experience! I follow almost all those bloggers too! I’ll add the ones I don’t. 🙂
I’m the same way. I don’t want to develop any preconceptions before I’ve had a chance to read a book. I’ll read book reviews of books I know I probably won’t get around to. And, sometimes when I do, the reviews reveal a little too much for my liking despite it not being a spoiler-y review. All depends on the style of the book blogger, I guess!
Thanks for including me in the list! Other blogs and Goodreads/StoryGraph are pretty much the only places I look at reviews. Like you, I try to avoid reviews of books I know I’ll read until I’ve read them, but I also love to just peruse people’s blogs and Twitter to read reviews and find new stuff to read that way.
You’re welcome! Like I replied to Briana above, I totally forgot about GR when I answered this question! But I do use them, usually when I’m in a bookstore & want a quick take on a book to help me decide whether to buy it.
