The Book Blogger Hop was originally created by Jennifer @ Crazy-For-Books in March 2010 and ended on December 31, 2012. With Jennifer’s permission, Coffee Addicted Writer relaunched the hop on February 15, 2013. Each week the hop will start on a Friday and end the following Thursday. There will be a weekly prompt featuring a book related question. The hop’s purpose is to give bloggers a chance to follow other blogs, learn about new books, befriend other bloggers, and receive new followers to your own blog.

This Week’s Question
What was your favorite genre to read as a child? Do you still read that genre, or do you read something else now? (Mark @ Carstairs Considers)
When I think back to what I read the most as a child it was all over the place. I went through an extended phase of reading mystery books in the form of the Nancy Drew series. I also picked through the The Boxcar Children series specifically for ones that fell more on the side of mystery than adventure. This period of reading occurred mainly in elementary school, if I’m remembering correctly.
In middle school, though, my interest swung to science fiction in the form of Star Wars books. I read any that I could get my hands on whether it was for Young Adults or Adults. I loved the Young Jedi Knights series. But I also remember reading the Thrawn trilogy. I had the entire list of books written out by hand. Do I remember any of it now? Not really!
These days I rarely read within the mystery genre. Science fiction fell by the wayside, too, but I would like to read more of it again. It’s one of my reading goals this year. Now I read mostly fantasy books. I did read fantasy books as a kid, but I don’t remember having an extended period of doing so. It was more like I read them and other genres interspersed between mystery and sci-fi books.
