The Book Blogger Hop was originally created by Jennifer @ Crazy-For-Books in March 2010 and ended on December 31, 2012. With Jennifer’s permission, Coffee Addicted Writer relaunched the hop on February 15, 2013. Each week the hop will start on a Friday and end the following Thursday. There will be a weekly prompt featuring a book related question. The hop’s purpose is to give bloggers a chance to follow other blogs, learn about new books, befriend other bloggers, and receive new followers to your own blog.

This Week’s Question
Which do you prefer to be known as: a voracious reader or a book nerd? (Billy @ Coffee Addicted Writer)
I think I’d rather be known as a voracious reader. To me, the connotation of book nerd is someone who can remember a lot of details about books. I feel book nerd also implies that the reader, if they really enjoy a book, spends extra time researching the world of the book. (Like J.R.R. Tolkien’s lore, for example.)
While I don’t have a bad memory, I certainly don’t remember a lot of book details given the number of books I read per year. I would need to make time to reread some favorites. And while making time to learn more about a book topic or a book’s fictional world (if more exists beyond the book), it’s just not something I do. At least, not anymore; I used to when I was at the height of my Star Wars reading days in middle school.
So, I prefer voracious reader because it fits my reading aesthetic better. That is, I strive to read a lot of books each year. And, if I really like a book, I’ll recommend it to others who might also enjoy it.
