WWW Wednesday: October 26, 2022

WWW Wednesday is a weekly meme revived and hosted by Sam at Taking on a World of Words.

The idea is to answer the three questions below and leave a link to your post in the comments for others to look at. No blog? No problem! Just leave a comment with your responses.

What are you currently reading?

What have you just finished reading?

What are you going to read next?

Currently Reading

I’m back on my one book at a time bullsh*t, so right now I’m reading an ARC of HEART OF THE SUN WARRIOR by Sue Lynn Tan. Currently I’m about 20% into this second book of a duology and am enjoying it so far. I feel the writing has matured since DAUGHTER OF THE MOON GODDESS. I’m already seeing a lot of positive reactions from others who finished it, so I have high hopes.

Recently Finished

The last book I read was THE DARK QUEENS by Shelley Puhak. If you like history, specifically of the medieval ilk, then hop on this narrative nonfiction. I absolutely loved it and am thinking of buying a physical copy for myself. It tells the stories of Brunhild and Fredegund, two sixth century medieval queens of what is now France. They are no longer lost to time or swept behind the visages of their husbands.

Reading Next

Technically I should already be reading this book because it’s out on November 7. But I received a physical copy of this ARC, so it doesn’t affect my NetGalley rating. In other words, I opted to read HEART OF THE SUN WARRIOR first since that one is in my NetGalley queue. This is a science fiction book marketed as “a queer, spectacular space opera debut inspired by the rise and fall of ancient Rome and Egypt—and the lives and loves of Cleopatra and Julius Caesar.”

What are you currently reading, or plan to read this month?

  1. I have Heart of the Sun Warrior to read too and I need to get round to it very quickly!
Dark Queens and The Stars Undying both sound really good as well.

    1. I hope you enjoy Heart of the Sun Warrior. I made some small progress on it last night–now up to 25% read. I highly recommend The Dark Queens. I just ordered myself my own copy yesterday.
