WWW Wednesday: June 8, 2022

WWW Wednesday is a weekly meme revived and hosted by Sam at Taking on a World of Words.

The idea is to answer the three questions below and leave a link to your post in the comments for others to look at. No blog? No problem! Just leave a comment with your responses.

What are you currently reading?

What have you just finished reading?

What are you going to read next?

I haven’t participated in this in over a month, so let’s get going!

Currently Reading: At the moment I’m reading GLEAM (The Plated Prisoner #3) by Raven Kennedy. While not as ubiquitous as the A COURT OF THORNS AND ROSES series, it pops up frequently on Instagram. I decided to check it out and clearly I like it as I have book 3 in my queue. There are a lot of trigger and content warnings for this series, so make sure to check those out before picking it up. It just so happens that the fourth book comes out soon, so I guess I’ll be freshly prepared for whatever comes next!

Recently Finished: The last book I finished is FOUR TREASURES OF THE SKY by Jenny Tinghui Zhang. Zhang’s writing is absolutely stunning. I can’t get over how beautiful it is. However, the events that transpire are anything but beautiful. It’s a historical fiction set in 1880s U.S. against the backdrop of the Chinese Exclusion Act. There are also a lot of trigger and content warnings for this one. I still need to write up my review for this book.

Reading Next: It’s time to get back on that ARC wagon. I think next I’ll read A RIVER ENCHANTED by Rebecca Ross. I don’t really know what to expect. But I think I saw positive reviews floating around when it first came out in February. (Yes, I am behind in my ARC reads. The shame.) The marketing describes it as HOUSE OF EARTH AND BLOOD meets THE WITCH’S HEART. I haven’t read either of those yet, but theoretically I should enjoy it!

    1. Four Treasures of the Sky is a fantastic book…you should definitely check it out! I’m sorry you weren’t able to finish Gild because of your slump. šŸ™ But if you ever get back into that series, each book gets more interesting. I’m almost finished with book 3 and have been just stunned at the plot twist revealed in it…like, I didn’t see it coming in any way.
